Upgraded a HD 4350 with this XFX HD 4850 1GB
Purchased a CyberPower PC for our son for his combo b-day/graduation but although the PC was pretty powerful, it lacked in one important area, the video card. He loves gaming but unfortunately the PC had an AWESOME price and it turned out they saved money by installing a lower end video card. The HD 4350 is great if you aren't going to be gaming much, if at all. Assasin's Creed was choppy unless turned way down and Just Cause 2 was tough to play. The XFX Radeon HD 4850 1G is an awesome card. It sped up both the games mentioned above as well as making Modern Warfare 2 crank with the graphics turned all the way up! It runs a bit hot, pushing Modern Warfare 2 it can reach over 70C on another machine I have, but his case has 2 extra fans beside just the standard CPU fan, Power Supplyfan , ... I forgot to check the FPS but it wasn't choppy at all so we didn't even think to check the frame rate. This is the 2nd Radeon 4850 1GB we bought and we love them. They need an extra case fan if the gaming is going to be pushed a lot, but other than that they are flawless. Plus, this card was super cheap, used at $79. Wow.

XFX 4850-Excellent Graphics Card
First of all XFX is awesome because of the double lifetime warranty they offer with all their cards. Basically, I have lifetime warranty with this card. Awesome. BUT if I were to give away/sell this card to someone else, they would also receive a lifetime warranty...awesome. Now the card it's self runs excellently. All the games out there it can handle with the exception of poorly made games(not in gameplay but as in resource-hog) i.e. GTA 4 and anything on the Crysis engine. It still runs them, but not at maximum settings. Also a nice feature, the 4850 downclocks it's core when not running a 3D application extending the life of your card as well as keeping it cool. This card is also a great competitor to Nvidia's cards especially in the power consumption (I only run a 450watt PSU) and ... AMAZING..!!
I am very happy with this card. It will fit in a mid-size case with a micro-board. It does require additional power but works fine for me with a 350 watt supply. For a little more I could have gone with the HD 4870 but that is a whole different animal. This card is just fine for regular on-line gaming and stuff. I think this is the card for most peoples needs. If you're looking for something a lot bigger and more powerful that will let you max all your settings than the HD 4870 would be better. But if you need something with good settings, and they are good, then this is your card. I'm very happy with this card.I am very happy with this card. a great upgrade
I was wanting to upgrade to something a bit better then my 1950xt and looked around, I didn't really want to drop a lot of money on a newer card so I started looking at a few other things. Read the reviews online and saw that the 4850 HD benchmarked higher then the 9800GTX. I have to say that since having this it has been a great card, I have yet to find anything to throw at it that it can not handle!I was wanting to upgrade to something a bit better then my 1950xt and looked around, I didn't really want to drop a lot of money on a newer card so I started looking at a few other things. Read the reviews online and saw that the 4850 HD benchmarked higher then the 9800GTX. good card had the 512meg one got this one ran in crossfire omg framerates went up almost double great card looking to buy 3 more and sell off my 512 meg one so i can have 4x crossfire......might be a little over kill but who cares its only money lol
