    Great knife for the price

Design provides excellent grip. Also the fast change feature avoids disassembling the unit for a blade change. Instructions-on how to properly change the blade are not clear though... needed to look up a video in the internet to make sure I was doing it correctly.

    Not up to standards

Stanley engineers need to redesign blade removal and insertion. There is nothing worse than having your blade fail when trimming an expensive piece of veneer. Not only do I use utility knives in my business but I collect them. I really wanted the FatMax to come up to the standards of other Stanley products, but it just doesn't. I fiddled, I practiced working on the FatMax but to no avail. The FatMax failed. If you are in the market for a retractable utility knife, I suggest the Irwin retractable which has a great blade insertion/removable system My second recommendation is the Husky retractable. It is the lighter of the two and Home Depot stands behind the Husky 100% no questions asked. My plea is to the Stanley Engineers, bring the FatMax up to the standards of your other tools.

  • Sturdy and solid

This utiliity knife has a very nice hand fit. It is study and feels like it was desiged to last a lifetime. Time will tell on that one. Cushioned in all the right places. Nobody gets to borrow this one!

  • Great Box Cutter

Love the different settings. I need them for my work. Sharp blades and easy handling. Love it!

  • Finally figured it out.

No clear instructions on how to change the blade, etc. Even Stanley's web page was no help. So, I searched on YouTube, and there was a great video on how to change the blade. The knife is a hefty, and it is comfortable to hold.
