The Anita Blake:Vampire Hunter series by Laurell K. Hamilton is still growing in popularity, and these graphic novels are a great edition to the series. A re-telling of the "Guilty Pleasures" book, the graphic novels add depth to the story. I highly recommend them !

I was surprised at how many different type of horror creatures there were in this first volume of Anita Blake. Also, instead of just sticking them in there for fight scenes, the writer has placed a great amount of info on the workings of each creature in such a way that it didn't bog down the action. The best part about this comic series is the 1st person commentary. It allows for a greater connection to the character, but not as close as reading the Anita Blake novels. The plus to the novel turning into a graphic novel is the visual sense of the characters. It helps with movement and progression of the story and characters. The art is a great marriage to the writing. Clean but gritty at the same time. I think the only thing that could have been improved on was more ... As you may know, this collection of the Anita Blake comics 1-4 is a graphic novel adaptation from a popular book series by Laurel K. Hamilton. These four comics cover the first 100 pages or so of the first novel so there is much more material for future comics. The artwork is top-notch and having read the first 13 novels, I feel the artwork enhances my image of many of the characters I have long been accustomed to. The dialogue and plot is extremely faithful to the source material which I believes adds value to the series. A must read for fans of the novels, but would be easy to read for those not familiar to the storyline. Either way I would highly recommend. To find who is offing vampires in St. Louis, she'll need to relax her "no vamps" rule -- and join forces with the mysterious, seductive Jean-Claude.

I bought this book not realizing it was a graphic novel but I was very happy to get it. It follows the original novel well and the graphics are outstanding. Definitely would recommend it to anyone who likes the "Anita Blake" series and wants to "see" more than the inner visualization of the characters.
