UNCLE FRANK ROCKS - ZAPPA AT HIS BEST
FRANK IS AND WILL ALWAYS BE MY FAVORITE ARTIST/COMPOSER OF THE 20TH CENTURY, AND THIS DVD PROVES WHY, HE WAS ALWAYS MAKING MUSIC, AND AT HIS BEST IN THE RECORDING STUDIO, PREFORMING "LIVE" WAS SOMETHING HE DID FOR HIS LOYAL FANS, IF WE ALL WOULD HAVE JUST BOUGHT HIS ALBUMS WITHOUT SEEING HIM "LIVE" I DOUBT HE WOULD HAVE TOURED MUCH, ALTHOU HE LOVED THE MUSICIANS HE SURROUNDED HIMSELF WITH, AND LOVED PERFORMING WITH THEM, HIS TRUE LOVE WAS HIS WORK, BEHIND THE MUSIC, ALWAYS COMING UP WITH SOMETHING NEW, SOMETHING DIFFERENT, SOMETHING NO-ONE ELSE HAD THOUGHT OF OR TRIED. Zappa live definitely Zaps
I love Zappa most of the time. Sometime I get annoyed at his silliness. I am silly too, but he sometimes overdoes it, especially at the beginning of this video. But once things get underway there is some excellent playing. I am a percussionist (drums, vibes, tympani) and it is a real treat to watch Ruth Underwood perform some incredibly difficult pieces and make it so easy. Since there is not a lot of Zappa on video, this is a must for Zappa fans.I love Zappa most of the time. Sometime I get annoyed at his silliness. great music. great muscians! its is a pleasure to see the footage of the 1974 line up. buy this dvd. some of the effects are dated but that does not detract from the music!
