Strike Dream Insert Nightmare
Architect James Spader has a great job, but he's looking for more. Beautiful Mädchen Amick "accidentally" comes into his life and he's hooked. It isn't until after the wedding her skeletons start tumbling out of the closet. She takes his name, his money, and his life as he knows it. But the conniving wife from hell has forgotten one little detail.... Spader does an excellent job as the nice guy pushed way too far and Amick stylishly portrays the psycho-wife to the hilt. Director Nicholas Kazan brings out a multi-layered performance from each. If it's too good to be true...Architect James Spader has a great job, but he's looking for more. More than a plot with twists and turns.
One night, I caught this movie on cable. It came out at a time when I wasn't seeing many first run movies. I have always enjoyed James Spader's work. I find his ability to play "hard" characters and ones with much vulnarability, to express his great range in acting. If you have ever seen "Deathtrap", with Michael Caine and Christopher Reeves, and enjoyed it, as I have, you will understand why I liked this story with all the plot surprises. But not only all of this, but the addition of Madchen Amick as his love interest, was a huge bonus. Since the first time I saw her in "Sleepwalkers", I felt she is one of the most beautiful actresses to appear in the last twenty years, maybe in all time. And need I say, that her nude scene, was a much appreciated added bonus. If all this sounds good to ... One night, I caught this movie on cable. Everyone Should See This
For people who claim not to know just how evil some females can be, this is the movie to watch. No one can feign ignorance or a lack of imagination about what sort of evil is out there in human form after seeing this film.
