This is the 3rd Tri-flex control that I have purchased in less than Four years. The first one I purchased was of better quality.... you could see the LCD settings easily as it was considerably brighter. It also had more aggressive braking power at lower settings than the next Two replacements. Yes I conducted brake shoe/drum adjustments at regular intervals as required on both of my trailers 7K & 10K GVW. This first one began to malfunction after about 2.5 years by locking up the trailer brakes totally and staying locked for about 5 seconds at every brake application, regardless of settings. I replaced it with the same version, but it had a very weak LCD settings readout and had to be set at much higher settings to obtain proper braking power. Because the quick connect plug was identical ... This is the 3rd Tri-flex control that I have purchased in less than Four years. After about 1 .25 years, the second controller blew the main fuse and after the main fuse was replaced, it operated much like the first controller, (locking up at all settings but not staying locked as long). Out of convenience, I bought a third controller with the same quick plug, so I did not have to rewire anything to be back in operation. If this one let's go, I will be changing to another brand of control.
