Great High Fidelity Through my Yamaha Receiver
I'm using this Yamaha receiver as the control center for my high-end audio and my theater system. It's working better than expected. I have Jaton 801 speakers that are reasonably high-end. So I need a reasonably high-end audio system driving them. The most sensitive part of my system is a Rega Planar 3 P3 turntable with an Ortofen MC Cadenza Red cartridge. The Yamaha supports moving-magnet cartridges (the most common). For my more sensitive moving-coil cartridge I'm using a Music Hall pa2.2 MM/MC phono preamplifier. Here's the Yamaha's prowess: I can play my vinyl with the phono pre-amp connected directly to my power amp or I can pass it through the Yamaha using "Pure Direct". I cannot discern a difference between these paths. Plus the Yamaha interface and wand are easy to use. (I cannot ... I selected this receiver based upon the positive reviews that I had read online. I found a great price on eBay and ordered the receiver. The seller sent it quickly. Set up of the unit was quick and within an hour of it being delivered, I was sitting back and enjoying a blu-ray movie through my new receiver. It sounds great, offers numerous sound stage set up and the automated room/sound using the include mic made tuning the system to my room a breeze. I would highly recommend this receiver to anyone looking to add a new HDMI capable receiver to their home entertainment sysytem. Fantastic receiver. Sound is precise and specific. Easy to set up. Handles HDMI and analog devices with ease. Bought this receiver to update my aging system that had incorporated a number of HDMI devices being handled by switchers and excessive cables. I also had numerous analog devices as well. The Yamaha RX V465 handles them all with ease. I was able to eliminate about 15 pounds of now unnecessary cables and switches. The sound from this receiver surpasses my hopes of being as good as my old beloved Panasonic receiver. The Yamaha blows it out of the water.Fantastic receiver. Sound is precise and specific.
