Samantha, a former model, comes to the aid of her roommate Jack, an aspiring songwriter who's vowed to stay celibate until he achieves musical success. Samantha invites a group of arty friends from Greenwich Village to a party -- an Indian chief, a construction worker, a cowboy, a policeman, a soldier, and a couple of leather boys! Then, they all get together and stage such a wild, campy, "dance feverish" show using Jack's songs, that his career skyrockets! Campy Fun Viewing
Remember seeing this in the 80's, and while it is no Saturday Night Fever or Grease, it is fun and campy entertainment. A look back at that time period of fashion, music and the personalities that were popular and or up and coming at the time. Don't expect great acting, but the musical numbers are quite fun and over the top.

The only movie to star the manufactured Disco singing group The Village People.Can't Stop The Music is a FUN and entertaining romp worthy of the term musical.It did introduce us to an up and coming star named Steve Guttenberg. The movie is a pseudo documentary semi auto-biographical musical on how the Village People were created and how they got started as well how they were unleashed on the world and became a multi cultural phenomenon. Can't Stop The Music also has a soundtrack chock full of great Village People songs that have stood the test of time and have never gone out of style.The movie is a non-stop crazy ride through the 1970's and the entire Disco era that will take you back to childhood or your teen years when you listened to Village People records until the grooves grew old or ... Can't Stop The Music is a movie that should be a part of every music fans DVD library,especially if you were a Village People fan.Get it now,watch it and start remembering the good times of your childhood or teen years and start dancing the night away.

Together, they brought to the world a colorful and campy group of singers decked out in full costumes which represented American male stereotypes. So outstanding was their success that it only seemed a natural idea to place them into a movie. In 1980, their first and only feature film, "Can't Stop The Music", was released to theaters. It basically told the story of how the group was discovered and assembled. Steve Guttenberg plays aspiring songwriter Jack Morell, who wants to make it big in the music world. His roommate is Samantha Simpson (Valerie Perrine), a supermodel nearly retired at the peak of her career. Together, they enlist the services of ... There are some key production numbers well-integrated into the framework of the film; especially the title-song, presented in a spectacular, show-stopping finale. This DVD features the movie in its original widescreen presentation; plus, the original theatrical trailer. It is a great visual moment captured on film. "Can't Stop The Music" is a fun look back at the early days of the Village People.

Can't Stop The Music
O.K., Well I gave this movie a poor rating because it is an absolutely TERRIBLE movie, however, because of some of those crazy musical numbers it's almost one of those it's so terrible it's GREAT movies. Mind you I say "almost" one of those movies. The musical numbers are really flashy and campy and fun, but the bits inbetween (i.e. most of the movie), are really awful. As a side note, Bruce Jenner has to be one of the worst "celebrities" turned actors ever! I bought this movie because it is one of the Holy-Trinity of cheezy movies from 1980. Also including Xanadu and The Apple. Both of which are worse/better than Can't Stop The Music. The Apple especially. If you have a taste for retrocheese, that's the one to get. Can't Stop The Music ...
