Powerful for it's age.
About as fast as it gets for socket 478 systems. There are faster chips on this platform but they cost considerably more for very little difference in performance.

I purchased this processor from Austin Goodwill Computer Works for a great price. This is an older processor, and is no where advisable for a modern Windows 7 or Windows 8 system. However, my reason for purchasing this was for a Windows XP era-specific machine. And for that purpose, it's very well suited. I would recommend this processor for someone who wants solid performance on a Windows XP machine, for whatever reason. Just be sure that you're purchasing the 800 MHz FSB version -- not the 533 MHz FSB version. Windows 7 works great
Upgraded old Compaq system with this CPU, then upgraded from XP to Windows 7. Cruises the internet nicely, good for MS Office or watch DVDs. Not a real game machine but plays most DX9 games at medium settings. 3.0GHz CPU, 2GB memory, 256MB video card and Win 7.
