Are you considering building your own kitchen cabinets but are concerned about what it takes to do the entire job. Well relax; it's all here in this book. Starting from the kitchen layout & cabinet design through the construction of cabinet boxes, drawers and doors, right up to the installation of your new cabinets including the countertop&&&&&it's all covered here in this book. This book doesn't gloss over the critical aspects of kitchen cabinet design, construction and installation; it gives the reader all the necessary information needed to conquer one of the most difficult household renovations for any woodworker to tackle. Of the 144 pages of this book there are 22 pages dedicated to the installation of kitchen cabinets and those pages are filled with numerous illustrations and tips from the pros on how to make your cabinet installation go smoothly. And if you think that this book is for those who are building just kitchen cabinets, you're mistaken. The design, construction and installation techniques presented in this book can be applied to other projects like entertainment units, office furniture and even bedroom furniture. This book is a must read for anyone considering building their own kitchen cabinets and other cabinetry. - GordGraff.com, Back to Basics Series While the subtitle, ''Straight Talk for Today''s Woodworker'', for the ''Back to Basics'' series might imply that these books are designed for all woodworkers, they are, in my view, particularly relevant for novice woodworkers. The authors rely largely on illustrations, and these are, in general, quite good. Almost every topic is accompanied by at least one illustration. The authors clearly have a good grasp of their respective subjects and know how to explain both simple and complex concepts clearly...these books contain a lot of reliable information that any novice woodworker will benefit from. Woodworking Machines In this book you''ll find general introductions to stationary machines, portable power tool and blade and bit sharpening, along with detailed chapters on the table saw, band saw, radial arm saw, drill press and jointer. Almost as an afterthought these is a small section on ''other tools'', including scroll saws, sanders and air compressors. There is barley a mention of planers (2 pages), and nothing on miter saws. The section on radial arm saws is a bit strange - there aren''t many models available, they''re expensive, and I can''t imagine a novice woodworking including one as a first purchase. Nonetheless, the content is good, and it''s certainly worth a read if you''re new to woodworking machinery. - ToolReviews.ca, This book need not be confined to the kitchen, the excellent plans and construction details can be a reference for most any type of cabinet. An excellent 144 page reference book! The authors have included numerous shop tips and shortcuts to make your cabinet building easier and more efficiently. Drawer construction is covered in detail and great length. In addition, the book covers installation of the cabinets along with easier ways to install those uppers as well.- Graham McCulloch, Shortcuts.ns.ca, Are you considering building your own kitchen cabinets but are concerned about what it takes to do the entire job.
