Led by Miss Maple, the smartest sheep in Glennkill (and possibly the world), they set out to find George's killer. The A-team of investigators includes Othello, the "bad-boy" black ram; Mopple the Whale, a merino who eats a lot and remembers everything; and Zora, a pensive black-faced ewe with a weakness for abysses. Joined by other members of the richly talented flock, they engage in nightlong discussions about the crime and wild metaphysical speculations, and they embark on reconnaissance missions into the village, where they encounter some likely suspects.     Large cast of characters makes it difficult to stay on top.

    I am 1/3 of the way through. Oddly difficult to follow. So many characters (even though they are sheep) it is hard to get started after having to lay it down. I almost need a score card. Plus, they use British language and I do not understand all of it. I am determined to get through it, hopefully I will get in a groove soon.

    Sheep make good detectives.

    Three Bags Full is a really beautifully written mystery. A flock of sheep work out a number of clues to discover who is responsible for the death of their shepherd. (Yes, they talk to each other. Once I was reading story, that seemed natural.) Lots of local flavor, each sheep has a distinct character and way of thinking. Some are smarter. Some are observant. They have various attitudes towards the humans around them. Gossiping sheep! It's a great story.
