About this product

Product Information

"GoldenEye 007" for the Nintendo Wii is a high-resolution remake and rerelease of the classic Nintendo 64 game. Developed by Eurocom and published by Activision, it is a faithful recreation of the classic release with superior graphics, sound, textures, and even a few new modes of gameplay. With online and local multiplayer options, it is an excellent first-person shooter for parties and get-togethers and a competitive game that fully highlights the capabilities of the Wii. Not only do gamers get to enjoy the excitement of being James Bond, but they also enjoy a modern interpretation of the classic deathmatches that made the original "GoldenEye 007" on the N64 such a great success.Just like in the classic video game, in this update, the player takes control of James Bond, who is voiced by Daniel Craig. Users attempt to thwart the theft of a space-based laser to snatch it from the hands of evildoers who would use it to attack targets all over the world. To do this, the gamer must navigate through various levels, eliminate or incapacitate enemies, and solve different puzzles. The action in each level has a fast pace, with Bond needing to defend himself from an assortment of threats and take out enemies that could come at him from anywhere. To do this, he has a wide variety of tools, including a laser-shooting watch, exploding pens, and assault rifles."GoldenEye 007" also shines in the multiplayer mode. With a large assortment of maps and upgraded content, most gamers ind themselves spending hours playing. Capable of supporting up to four players locally or eight online, gamers must navigate different maps and eliminate enemies. Each player gets to select from an extensive cast of characters, including the notorious Oddjob and Jaws. By killing opponents and winning matches, gamers accumulate XP and unlock additional skills, weapons, and cheats. These include classics like "big heads" as well as new competitive modes like Melee Only and Paintball. Online multiplayer enables gamers to rank up, display, and compare their scores as well as compete with other gamers in the arena."GoldenEye 007" uses the widely-available Classic Controller instead of the standard Wii Remote. This enables the game to have finer, more precise controls than other Wii games, thanks to the Classic Controller's dual thumbsticks. The controller allows players to approach the game like a traditional FPS, with one thumbstick for movement and the other for aiming. Nintendo specifically designed the Classic Controller to handle such action, and it is ideal for games like this."GoldenEye 007" is one of the definitive multiplayer games for the Wii. With the ability to accommodate up to eight players, it is competitive while also being approachable for new gamers. It pushes the graphics abilities of the Wii and offers online multiplayer action that is fast paced and exciting. This upgraded remake on the classic 007 game is extremely fun for new and nostalgic gamers. With so many play modes, an excellent campaign, online gaming options, and fantastic controls, it is a must-have for any Wii owner.

    Great!

The game arrived on time, and was in excellent condition. It's a super fun first-person shooter, especially with the Wii Zapper, and incorporates a refreshing amount of stealth and strategy absent in many modern shooters. The graphics aren't great, it easily looks like a GameCube game, but the gameplay is solid. The story is also pretty fun, with a perfect balance of tense James Bond action and awesomeness and quirky, humorous easter eggs. I've never played the original Nintendo 64 GoldenEye 007, but GoldenEye for Wii is a super fun single-player game. I haven't yet played the local multiplayer, but I'm sure it will be a blast. I also adore the many controller options- the Wiimote and Nunchuck by themselves, the Wiimote and Nunchuck inside the Wii Zapper, the GameCube controller, and the ...

  • A retelling of the movie Goldeneye with a twist

Anyone who played Goldeneye on the N64 should know that this is a remake and not an upscaling of the original. While that's not a bad thing, there are some things missing that I felt should have been in this game. I myself am a fan of the previous 007 games, especially the PS2, Gamecube, and Xbox games. Those games really show how to make a 007 game work well and have you coming back for more. Key things in those games are missing from this title. Using gadgets doesn't really play a role in this game like the previous titles. Also, in the previous titles there were a certain amount of "007 moments" in each stage. These were awards for doing certain things like using your grappling hook to sneak in the base through the vents or shooting a wire to make a net full of boxes drop on a group of ...

  • Nice release

The game has great graphics, but the actual gameplay is difficult if you're not used to first person shooters on Wii. My advice would be to purchase the very inexpensive Wii Zapper guns, which will help your arms and wrists from aching after the first few minutes of play. You can get the Wii Zappers on eBay for as little as $7.00 + shipping and handling. We haven't tried the multiplayer yet, but I'm sure it's great. My wife just isn't into shooting "bad guys" for some reason. It definitely lives up to the hype and has a great story line, just as the original does, but throws in a few extras that keep it fresh. You should be able to find slightly used copies of this Wii game for between $30-$40. Some may even come with the Wii Zapper for a few extra dollars. Stay away from purchasing the ...

  • Great game play for the Wii.

This is fantastic! Great 1st person shooter for the Wii. The only complaint with 1 player play is this continued notion of keeping a player on a leash through game play. The old N64 didn't require that of its players. This game is smart, exciting, and a brilliant update of the old title. I ended up playing the old 007 flick after I finished just to see how the video game made for a better story. Another flaw - the networking apparently needs tweaking. Somehow the programers just assume that you have complete access to your network hub and know how to fiddle around with it. This is the Wii - for heavens sake! A family machine! I still have yet to make it work. Can't wait for when I do.

  • GOLDEN GUN

The game itself is one of the most popular Wii shooter games because it follows the James Bond movie themes and allows single or multi-player with several display screen options. I have 2 boys age 11 & 12 and the split-screen play option is preferred. The guns are nothing more than a glitzy trinket. They are a plastic shell and you simply insert the Wii controller body into the gun shell. The gun triggers (two triggers) are simple plastic levers that will press the respective controller buttons....when you pull the trigger(s). No, you don't need the glitzy guns to play the game. The guns are actually an overpriced marketing trinket. Nintendo knows it and now you do, too.......it's all part of the game!
