About this product

Product Information

The third-person action adventure game American McGee's Alice, by Rogue Entertainment and Electronic Arts, runs on an enhanced version of the Quake III Arena engine. American McGee is famous for his brilliant Quake and Quake II level designs. Those same talents make Alice a dark, spooky, even macabre experience that takes us back to Wonderland to remind us how terribly exciting and marvelously scary Alice's adventures really were.

Perhaps the classic Lewis Carroll story enjoys such enduring appeal because it's a children's book that adults can also enjoy. American McGee's Alice takes a decidedly more grown-up approach to the tale. The game contains some graphic violence and mature subject matter that may not be suited for children (or adults, for that matter, who aren't prepared to be a little frightened).

    It's good

Fantastic game. I mean it was a bit lackluster in some of the acting and a bit of the emotions fell flat, but overall it's a good game. Sure, I can't really blame the old 3-D graphics but what do you do, that's all they had at the time. So, yes, I recommend playing it to get a feel for back story if you get confused in the sequel "Madness Returns." That's why I played this one first, so that when I get the sequel, I won't be lost or confused on a few plot points if that occurs.

Had to install an automatic update to allow the game to resume from pause mode after a saved game load. • Turn the lights off, put on the earbuds and get ready for the creeps.

This is not your Uncle Disney's Alice in Wonderland. With music that makes you dare yourself to turn the lights off and truly horrific creatures of a deranged mind, American McGee's Alice does take you to another place, a place where things have gone terribly wrong. So, with that in place, also understand that this is a PC game from 2000. 12 years ago it was well received for its graphics, scenery and eeriness. When compared with its sequel, this game can be very limited only by the technology involved. The gameplay however can be delightful and challenging. It does help to have a healthy (or unhealthy) appreciation for the macabre journey through another person's nightmares.

  • American McGee's Alice Prima's Official Strategy Guide

Didn't give much back-story information about the game, but did have a good first chapter about all of the characters and shed light on a couple of things that in the eight years that I've played and Loved and OBSESSED about the game I didn't know, so that's a great thing. The walkthrough is basic and informative, but the actual book is in all black and white which isn't too great for being able to follow picture instructions, and the pixtures and text seemed somewhat squished together because the pages aren't wide enough, and it can be distracting, but for American McGee's Alice fans, it's definately a Guide that you want in your collection!!!

  • American McGee 's ALICE

Had this game, I'm guessing 2008, saw it advertised, at a game site online. Loved the graphics, raved about it so much my Son , gave it to me on my Birthday many years ago, I just never finished the game, I lost the CD's 2010, have a copy on all my old Hard Drives, that don't work as well, so I purchased ALICE again. I love the game rhe people who put the game together did a great job. I decided to buy it since the price was sooooo much less then the $50.00 + when it first came out. I won't pay that price for any game, and it's not that I can't afford it. I can find other stuff I'd rather spend $50+ on.
