As this 1994 film begins, Mrs. Edwina Broome (Natasha Richardson) has just moved to Kilshannon, a small Irish town, into a neighborhood called "Widows' Peak." This community got it's name because many of its residents are upscale widows. Curiosity about the sensuous newcomer consumes the neighbors' interest; however, she's a very private person who doesn't allow much information about herself to leak. The most dominant, over-bearing, sinister, matriarchal widow, Mrs. Doyle-Counihan (Joan Plowright), is frustrated to no end because she can't find out much about Edwina, even though her son, Godfrey Doyle-Counihan (Adrian Dunbar), is already courting the highly seductive new neighbor, who's an apparent heiress his mother would be delighted for him to marry. Trying to figure out both the mysterious heiress & the unsolved murder make for a suspense-building, intensity-flinging, amusing mystery. The cast is stellar & really deliver delightful performances. Watch this one to see how a managery of great actors work so complimentary well together~
