Smartthings: GREAT! Tech support for wifi: Non existent
The device, so far, is really great. The tech support is mixed. For smartthings, support has been great so far. For the wifi functions, support is a mess. Samsung says "call Plume for wifi support" (plume makes the wifi mesh system in this device). You call Plume, and they say (you guessed it)... that they do not support the Samsung devices. So support for the wifi feature is a mess. Overall the wifi feature has worked really well, but I have had a couple of things to chase, and that has not gone well. Bottom line: I recommend this ONLY for really tech savvy users. It is not ready for consumers because tech support for the wifi side is simply a nearly unusable mess.The device, so far, is really great. The tech support is mixed. Awesome product! just needs a few developer updates to get the Smartthings hub up to speed with the current ver 3 hub.
I have 5 of these working in our home and garage areas. 3 level house with a full basement, reverse story and a half footprint ~3700 sqft. I found that wiring a hard connection to each device really speeds up the system but I have also experimented with the wireless configuration and operation was acceptable as long as you don't spread the hubs too a apart. I also migrated from a smartthings version 2 hub to this version and moving everything over has been pretty smooth but you do need to use the classic app to setup most things and then switch over to the new app for daily use. I also have Sonos, Hue, and Keen systems and many echos scattered about the house and everything seems to be playing fairly with each other. I've noted that the current smartthings V3 hub seems to be getting all ... The internet in my 2000 square foot house was deplorable just one room away from the router/modem. Having the Samsung Wi-Fi Mesh changes my download speed from 8-15 to the 100 mbs. The other features are icing on the cake.
