About this product

Product Information

Space Station: Silicon Valley has you guiding a damaged robot named Evo as you make your way across four distinct environments: Euro Eden, Arctic Kingdom, Jungle Safari, and Desert Adventure. Each area features multiple zones filled with critters that aren't quite natural -- they're robotic versions of Earth's animals. While some may appear to be relatively harmless, like dogs or sheep, others will attack you on sight, including foxes and walruses.

Evo has the distinct power to take control of the animals to fully explore the worlds. Gameplay involves using these animal "hosts" in each zone to complete objectives detailed by Dan, who remains behind in a wrecked ship. To switch hosts, you'll need to "kill" the animal in question by using your captured animal's special attack. This can be as simple as a bite or as exotic as a heat-seeking missile. Once defeated, the animal will short circuit and you'll be able to safely enter it.

While early missions are designed to help you get accustomed to the controls, they will progressively become more involving. You'll typically need to accomplish three to four different tasks, from changing into a specific animal to locating a certain number of hidden objects. Besides completing the objectives, you'll also have to search for round spheres called power cells. Collecting them all will allow you to repair Evo's robotic body. Also found within each zone is one "golden souvenir" that can be discovered by exploring or revealed after completing certain tasks.

3D Action adventure with a unique game mechanic

The main game mechanic, controlling a microchip that jumps between different animals that you then control, is what makes this game unique and interesting. This sets it apart from other collectathons and multi-character games. Graphics on par for N64. Exploration is rewarded with a decent simplicity-variety balance. Story and atmosphere are moderately uncomfortable/fear provoking (more so than Mario which would be hurt by more fear, but less than Metroid games which really benefit from the fear/isolation atmosphere). You are mostly free to set your pace. Not likely to be in many people's top 10 games, but a good playthrough if you're looking for 3D action adventure with a new spin.

  • PLEASE READ BEFORE BUYING

To my surprise, the game would freeze on the intro cinematic of the game. I thought to myself, did I purchase a paper weight or a game? With almost all hope lost, I googled this problem in hopes of an answer. Lo and behold the problem was caused due to the games incapability to function WITH THE RED EXPANSION PAK addition to a n64 problem. Keep that noted if you consider purchasing this game from anyone, or if you own it and encounter the same problem.

  • Must use Jumper Pack

This game will freeze during the intro sequence if the RAM expansion pack is installed. Just as an FYI to anyone who may buy this game and experience the same issue. Switched to the original Jumper Pack and the game works great!

  • Space Station Sillicon Valley

This game is very nostalgic for me. I played it when it first came out when I was little, and my cousin and I would take turns playing each level. The graphics are decent for a N64 game but back in the day they looked amazing. The game itself is more of a puzzle then anything. Some levels you have to figure out the best way to do things (i.e. Its better to be a fox at this point then a dog)A lot of the levels later on are a little harder, mainly due to timing things. The storyline is childish of course, but has its funny moments. Theres a bunch of levels to go through, but I don't remember if I ever beat it or not. Personally I love this game, others may not.
