Acclaimed developer Bungie's final Halo game for Microsoft serves as a prequel to the sci-fi storyline that began in 2001. An all-new campaign supporting cooperative action for up to four players is included, and in a departure from previous titles, Master Chief is no longer the main protagonist. You are a new recruit to the Noble Team, a six-person squad of Spartan super soldiers, whose members specialize in key roles and wear customized gear. Planet Reach, the main base for UNSC military operations and home to 700 million civilians, is under attack from the alien collective known as the Covenant. Your mission is to assist the human resistance and prevent the Covenant from destroying Reach, Earth's last line of defense. The shooting takes place from a first-person perspective, powered by a new graphics engine designed to incorporate large-scale battles in more open environments than in previous entries. Enemy AI has also changed from earlier games, relying more on dynamic actions instead of scripted routines. Each soldier's armor now offers distinctive abilities, depending on the equipped enhancements. A jetpack allows you to fly, active camouflage makes you invisible to enemies, sprint lets you dash at high speeds, and armor lock makes you temporarily invulnerable at the expense of movement. These abilities also play an important role in Halo: Reach's multiplayer modes, which support up to 16 combatants online. Reach's multiplayer component includes such past favorites as "Team Slayer" and "King of the Hill" along with new options. In "Headhunter," players collect flaming skulls from defeated opponents and attempt to deposit the skulls in designated areas for points. If you are killed before you reach the target area, your collected skulls will fall to the ground for others to retrieve. "Stockpile" is a variant on capture the flag, while "Generator Defense" pits three Spartans versus three Covenant Elites in a battle to defend or destroy generators. "Invasion" features a series of three team-oriented skirmishes designed in a similar fashion to Battlefield: Bad Company's rush mode. In addition, players can create custom scenarios with the Forge option, take in-game screenshots, earn credits to cosmetically enhance their soldier, and record video to study combat techniques or to share with the Halo community. The "legendary" version of Halo: Reach includes the game and an assortment of items designed for hardcore fans of the sci-fi series. The main selling point for this edition is the hand-painted statue of Noble Team, created by McFarlane Toys. Measuring at ten inches in height and weighing over ten pounds, the individually numbered collectible features five Noble Team members positioned against a rock. Also exclusive to the legendary edition are UNSC themed packaging and a Spartan armor effect for use in multiplayer games. Everything from the limited edition is included as well, consisting of an in-game Elite armor set for multiplayer competition, an embroidered Spartan II patch, an artifact bag containing Dr. Catherine Halsey's journal, and a replica of Dr. Halsey's ONI security badge. All of the limited edition's contents are housed within a custom-created box that recreates the look of an ONI data module.

This mode has matchmaking support and can be customized. Two players can play together on one system and four players can play via Xbox Live or System Link. There is also a mode in which players can take turns fighting alongside the bad guys. The player can also set his/her character to comment on the battle using a large selection of voices from the game. You can also set the voice to be silent. You can view your game stats online. Campaign: The story is fantastic. I won't spoil it. I will say there are a lot of secrets to find and enjoy. The campaign uses your customized character as the main character. You can set ... You can set your character to be male or female, and the dialogue will change accordingly. The entire campaign,in one run, should take about nine hours. You can modify the difficulty, as well as choose from four pre-set difficulties. There is also a secret level after the credits, so DON'T SKIP THEM! You can play the campaign with one to four players. Two players can play on one console, four players can play on two consoles. You can play online or offline co-op. There is matchmaking for campaign. The enemies are varied and smart. There are a ton of weapons and vehicles. You can view stats online. Watch for cameos of characters from the other Halo games. Multiplayer: It's awesome. There are many matchmaking playlists. There are many modes, including Invasion, which cannot be described in detail in one review. You can play with four players on one xbox, or play online with fifteen other players at a time. You can also build your own game modes and maps. I built a racetrack! There are hundreds of thousands of players on every day, so finding players isn't a problem. Theater: You can view previous games in theater. Take screenshots and clips of your antics and post them online for free. Customization: You can customize your character for use in all modes. There is total of 25,798,901,760 possibilities for design. The bonus content The statue is quality. It's accurate and sturdy. The bonus book looks cool and reads well.

Legendary is legendary
Let's face it: even as collector's editions go the one for Halo Reach is unusually expensive. It's easily twice the price of those I've seen for other games. Yet this is honestly the first time I've ever felt that a game's special edition was well worth the money. No matter how impressive the Legendary Edition might look in the pictures, seeing the real thing in person is simply astonishing. Bungie went all out when it came to this product. First is the size. It's huge. The whole box is about 14" x 15" x 12". That may not sound like a lot on paper and that is possibly the problem. I've seen frag box computers that are smaller. The weight is equally impressive; I was astonished when the UPS driver handed it to me. A friend of mine ... A friend of mine sent his wife to pick up his pre-order through a local retailer today and warned her ahead of time that she wasn't going to be prepared for how big it was. A few minutes later she called him -- shocked by the size, despite his warning. Once you actually open the box, though, is when the real magic begins. Yes, the figurine/statuette is big and beautiful but in some ways it's eclipsed by the little details tucked away everywhere. There are "hand written" notes from the person who tracked down these artifacts and shipped them to you. There's a notebook bound with heavy string that contains pages upon pages of research notes. ID cards, data cards, an embroidered Noble Team service patch, maps, biometric data -- you name it, this package has it. You really feel like you're poring over a slice of history. (A second friend received his copy at work today. All afternoon he had people coming to his desk to enviously take a look at the package's contents.) As for the game, it's every bit as fun as can be expected from previous games -- this, coming from a person who usually shies away from first-person shooters. In many ways it's also a lot more open. As an example, at one point I accidentally got split off from the friends I was playing with. Not sure how to catch up with them again I struck out in a direction that seemed promising. It actually led me to a Covenant outpost where I started picking off the enemy, clearing out the building with such tactics as happily firing into it with a rocket launcher that I'd found. After about 15 minutes of that, the storyline led my friends back around to where I was and all hell broke loose. Sure, I'd missed a bit of what they were doing but I also made a big difference at a key point. I also have to say that the graphics are astonishing. The new engine truly outdoes itself. There are times when the Xbox can't quite meet its demands, leading to a briefly stuttering frame rate but this is easily overlooked. The world is just too beautiful and epic-feeling to nitpick. Especially since I've often seen worse issues in games that didn't begin to compare visually. If you can still find a Legendary or Limited edition of Reach, by all means get it. I can't imagine anyone regretting this purchase.

Great buy!
I decided to buy this because I have every Halo thing ever pretty much. From all of the highest edition games, to the halo 3 xbox, headset, and controllers. I wanted this to finish my collection. I loved how highly detailed the statue was and how it was designed. All the DLC that game with it is awesome and looks great. The journal is much more than I expected. It is very interesting and all of the documents are highly detailed. This is a great buy and in my opinion, there are no things to dislike about it.I decided to buy this because I have every Halo thing ever pretty much. Truly the game of Legend.
The extras that come with this already exciting game are beyond intruiging. Each bit of the statue is crafted with exquisite detail, and the figures are not nearly as fragile as they look. After looking through the artifact bagand reading the entirety of the Journal, the perspective I had on Reach changed immensely, as well as my opinion on a few characters in some of the other Halo titles. This game is amazing in and of itself, but for anyone who loves to collect and delve into back story, this is a truly Legendary product!The extras that come with this already exciting game are beyond intruiging. Each bit of the statue is crafted with exquisite detail, and the figures are not nearly as fragile as they look.
