    Great receiver with lots of functions

    User manual contains detailed operating instructions; however, requires considerable study to master. Battery operated (no built-in charger), but most users will want to purchase a 4V to 6V DC "wall wart" with "exact Plug" to fit this receiver model. Beware, not just any 6V DC power supply "plug" will fit this model. HAM's and short wave listeners will love almost continuous coverage from 1.621MHz-30.000MHz and SSB "fine tune" capability for both LSB & USB.

    Power adapter issues

    The manufacturer does not include a 6V AC/DC power adapter. Most of the 6V power adapters I tried induce a lot of hum (60 Hz noise). I also tried a Radio Shack filtered and stabilized power supply and I still got an annoying high frequency background noise. I presently use an 8V GRUNDIG power adapter but this is not safe since it exceeds the 6V recommended. The display is poorly lit and small.

    A radio that could have been better in many ways.

    Reviews are personal and given after thorough testing of the equipments... Much hyped product. In many aspects Degen de 1103 DSP(present model) is quite better option. It's not all easy to compare them. People who use both will get to know slowly why Degen is the clear winner. Degen has a 'knob' and a nice square digital dial. It's SSB and audio is too good. DSP version has some changes in recent days and doing absoutely well. In catching SW signals especially the new tech. used in degen keeps behind the Sony 7600G. Sony 7600G spare parts are not available and very expensive too if in case it's available. The antenna cost itself is too high itself. Color of Sony 7600G it's deceiving. it's not 'black' as it looks in pics. it's dark grey bluish. Moreover it's not bad but always wise to ...

    Last shortwave radio made in Japan.

    Radio is well made and sensitivity is good (not as good as ICF 2010 or ICF SW07) but still quite good. Sound is reasonable due to its small size. Synch locks very well. For radio fans, this radio has memorandum meaning - last such radio made in a Japan by SONY after 30 years.

    Useless SW

    Sw doesn't work. There is no manual tuning. Difficult to find SW stations. Older type is better
