About this product

Product Information

The Malazan Empire simmers with discontent, bled dry by interminable warfare, bitter infighting and bloody confrontations with the formidable Anomander Rake and his Tiste Andii, ancient and implacable sorcerers. Even the imperial legions, long inured to the bloodshed, yearn for some respite. Yet Empress Laseen's rule remains absolute, enforced by her dread Claw assassins. For Sergeant Whiskeyjack and his squad of Bridgeburners, and for Tattersail, surviving cadre mage of the Second Legion, the aftermath of the siege of Pale should have been a time to mourn the many dead. But Darujhistan, last of the Free Cities of Genabackis, yet holds out. It is to this ancient citadel that Laseen turns her predatory gaze. However, it would appear that the Empire is not alone in this great game. Sinister, shadowbound forces are gathering as the gods themselves prepare to play their hand... Conceived and written on a panoramic scale, "Gardens of the Moon "is epic fantasy of the highest order--an enthralling adventure by an outstanding new voice.

Reviews
Steven Erikson is an extraordinary writer. My advice to anyone who might listen to me: Treat yourself to Gardens of the Moon., A brilliant book! Exciting, inventive, intelligent--frequently funny. A wonderful book to read and to recommend to others., I stand slack-jawed in awe of The Malazan Book of the Fallen. This masterwork of imagination may be the high water mark of epic fantasy., Gripping, fast-moving, delightfully dark, with a masterful and unapologetic brutality reminiscent of George R. R. Martin. Utterly engrossing.

10/10 for this seller. Communicated well when there was a minor condition issue with the box ( literally just the plastic handle on the top of the box was loose) and even threw in a little something extra. Probably my best experience on ebay thus far. Item arrived sealed and in mint condition. Would absolutely do business with this seller again.

  • Magic, Magic, Magic and more Magic.......

Over the top magic , not in the style of modern fantasy. I'm a fan of Abercombe, Martin, Rothfuss and Tolkien. This is sorcery, Wizards, talking dolls, floating mountains from page one. To be honest I'm only in 150 pages but I can't see reading 10 of these.

  • A good read

This book started slow but pickup at the end. Still recommend for fantasy readers.

  • An Excellent Start!

From first page page to last, this fantasy masterpiece grabs your imagination with two huge, gauntleted hands and never lets go! Fast-paced, character-centered story lines that introduce the readers to a world of warring gods and nations manipulating a cast of heroic characters for their own ends. Erikson proves himself one of those rare authors who are able to paint an elaborate picture in the readers' mind without making one wonder if he gets paid by the word. I found myself intrigued with every one of the characters and creatures from the loathesome to the loveable and every one in between. The world into which I found myself immersed was just familiar enough to be comfortable, but so original that it was never boring for a moment. To Mr. Erikson I say, "Eat, sleep, write ( eating and ...
