  • Chicago: The Blues Today

Chicago: The Blues Today is a three disc collection recorded in 1965. The recordings capture these now legendary artists early in their careers when they were still playing local taverns before being discovered by the wider (whiter) audience. These musicians are the link between the old bluesmen from the south and the rock blues fusion that seems to be popular today. All three discs are good with one and three standing out. Junior Wells and Otis Rush are urbanized and funky with Johnny Shines bringing back memories of Robert Johnson and the old Delta players. This is a good collection for new blues fans and long time fans. Well worth a listen, Nice remastered sound.
