Complete Book of Sand Casting - Review
I wish to state firstly that my rating has nothing to do with Mr. Ammen's abilities, credentials, or anything else about him. My rating rather reflects what my expectations of what the book would do for me. The book is full of technical information of sand, sand mixtures, making castings, and casting advice. However it is far too technical for me and I would expect any hobby-ist. As it happens, I am a welder and machinist by trade and I thought I would like to sand cast a few pieces of aluminum motorcycle parts for my motorcycle. I know metal and it's properties from a welder and machinists perspective and I thought this book would be a easy-to-follow guide. It is, in fact, too thorough of a guide and I was left overwhelmed by all the technical information and mitigating ... it is the complete handbook of sandcasting
i found the book to be extremlly helpfull for the first time caster. It gave an in depth description of individual tool their uses which i found to be very important to making mold correctly. the book also gave alot of detail into molding sand type and compositions and a lot more . Out of the 6 casting books i have this is the only one which i accutal read in full cause it had the ability to keep me interested in it . This book made me order more books by C.W ammeni found the book to be extremlly helpfull for the first time caster. It gave an in depth description of individual tool their uses which i found to be very important to making mold correctly. the book also gave alot of detail into molding sand type and compositions and a lot more .
