    Easy, low cost replacement

    No frills, just the board comes in the package, with no instructions. However, having researched the presenting problem on the internet I was reasonably confident this was the problem, and anyone with a modicum of mechanical aptitude can figure out how to replace this. The part, indeed, turned out to be exactly what I needed, and my printer is back to full service. This was definitely the way to go.

    Great fix for 79-Error

    The HP Color LaserJet 2605dn printer formatter board is susceptible to failure, probably heat related. This problem manifests itself as a 79-Error. Some folks believe the problem is result of firmware but more likely it is a hardware failure. Getting a new board and installing it solves the problem. The board is very easy to install. Remove a handful of screws to remove the back cover from the printer. Carefully remove two connector cables, remove a few more screws and the old board can be removed. Put in the new board and replace the screws, connector cables, printer back and screws and you’re all set. A great color printer fixed for a few dollars by using this replacement board.

    OEM. No error 79, 49

    Has original firmware. So many blame the 2012 firmware for ruining this PCB. Error 79. The HP 2605dn is old and slow, but spectacular. I had a good unit with extra toners, so I took a chance that this would fix the comm. problem. I just have to make sure no one upgrades the firmware. My wife has Windows 10. I am worried that it might "do her a favor" and upgrade firmware and probably ruin it.

    Saved my printer

    Don't know if the original card just died, or a bad firmware update ruined it. But this replacement card resolved the errors and installed easily. Hope it lasts - won't do any more firmware updates until they are verified by the user base.
