About this product

Product Information

Dedicated to the art of street dancing, YOU GOT SERVED features some of the most talented and prominent kids on the scene in a drama filmed in the streets of Los Angeles. The picture opens at the warehouse of Mr. Rad (Steve Harvey), where dance battles take the place of actual fighting. Elgin (Marques Houston) and David (Omarion) are childhood friends who are determined to make a splash in the world as street dancers. But when they lose a battle to a rival crew from Orange County, and when David finds himself falling in love with Elgin's pretty sister, Liyah (Jennifer Freeman), a heavy strain is put on their relationship. This is compounded when Elgin gets jacked selling drugs for a dangerous crime lord, while David was busy sipping milk shakes with Liyah. Eventually, another tragedy forces David and Elgin to put aside their differences and come together to win a contest that will make them $50,000 richer and land them in a video for hip-hop superstar Lil' Kim. Written and directed by Christopher B. Stokes, YOU GOT SERVED is a perfect venue to showcase the superb dancing talents of the now-defunct group B2K.

  • Another mediocre dance flick.

I think all of these dance movies were impressed with how successful Save the Last Dance did in 2001 that 2003-2009 had so many (Honey, You Got Served, Save the Last Dance 2, Dance Flick, etc) thought they could do the same. I think the problem with those versus Save the Last Dance, was that they unlike STLD, did not have a moving, dramatic plot, and as a result grew predictable. Sure there were "cool moments" but none extremely impressive. It also didn't help that most of the predominant cast was from the R&B group B2K-I'm a fan of their music, but by having the movie center around them, you limit yourselves to viewing in the movie of B2K, the group and it takes awhile to take them seriously as actors. When you do take them seriously as actors, you fall face down as the main protagonist ...

  • you got served dvd

I ordered this dvd for my 15 year old. She is the oldest of six children and they all love to dance. I had bought her the first copy for easter last year and someone borrowed it and never returned it. Although I think that the dvd is in excellent shape, the children say that it is missing the instructional section in the beginning of the movie. Which happens to be one of the main reasons that my teenager wanted the dvd back. Sorry I would have loved to give you an excellent. I don't know if maybe I should have looked for something that said w/extra lessons or not. But thank you she is still pleased that she and the children can still watch the movie.

  • You Got Served (DVD, 2004, Special Edition)

The competitive world of street dancing where crews battle each other for money and respect. Elgin and David are best friends and leaders of the best dance crew in the area. When another town's top group challenges them to a battle, David and Elgin, along with their buddies, must create and perfect the most cutting edge moves in order to remain on top. The stakes are raised as friends double-cross each other and true motives are revealed. When the biggest battle comes to town, David and Elgin must work past their differences to prove that they are still the best crew on the streets. The energy in this movie is undeniable. You can feel the hip-hop culture in this movie. If you love dancing to appreciate the art and dedication it takes then you will love the movie.

  • A Lot of Hype for an Average Movie

After repeatedly watching trailers for this movie, I was very excited when it came to DVD. I immediately went out and purchased it...for nothing! Maybe I'm a bit too old for this kind of movie, but, while the dancing was neatly choreographed and interesting to watch, I just hated the overall attitude of the movie. Sure, these "teams" were competing for the big purse, but between trying to decipher the slang and the failure to provide the adereline rush I thought I'd get, I was regretted my purchase. This is definitely a movie for the younger generation. Since I'm a generation X'er, I'd guess that this movie was made more for the generation Z'ers.
