About this product

Product Information

Zombie movies slip in and out of fashion, but it's always a special occasion when the man who helped turn the undead into a worldwide phenomenon decides to add an installment to his ongoing saga of flesh-eating films. George A. Romero's zombie movies have all appeared in different decades, beginning with NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD in 1968, DAWN OF THE DEAD in '78, and DAY OF THE DEAD in '85. Romero skipped the '90s, but a zombie renaissance in the early 21st century (28 DAYS LATER, SHAUN OF THE DEAD) finds him back in the directors chair.Often seen as allegories for their times, Romero's films have been connected to societal events such as the consumerism of the '70s (DAWN OF THE DEAD) and the spread of the AIDS virus in the '80s (DAY OF THE DEAD). With 2005's LAND OF THE DEAD, Romero positions the bulk of his story in a giant skyscraper which houses the last humans left on the planet; although his intentions are foggy this time, LAND appears to be Romero's commentary on the post-9/11 political landscape. The zombies only bother crews who venture outside the makeshift city for supplies, but the people are kept sedated by their leader, the irascible Kaufman (Dennis Hopper), who exaggerates their threat. What Kaufman doesn't realize is that the zombies are learning skills they half-remember from their old selves, leading to some impressively blood-soaked scenes of tumult. In an unusual move for Romero, Hopper is joined by name actors such as John Leguizamo and Asia Argento. The film greatly benefits as a result, successfully portraying an atrophied civilization that has regressed to a primitive state, allowing its undead tormentors to sense that a free lunch may be just around the corner.

Most important of all is that it works 100%, however it does have more cosmetic blemishes than in the picture (which was to be expected tbh), and didn't come with the Wii Remote cover which was odd. Other than that the shipping was good and it arrived way earlier than I was expecting.

Recommended seller! Good prices, exactly as described, shipped quickly, received in really good time and was well packaged. Thank you!

The disc was unfortunately cracked in half in transit (as Canada Post tends to handle packages like this very roughly), but the seller promptly issued a refund alongside discussing better shipping options for future purchases. The price was definitely right for this game, but I'd highly recommend other buyers opt for the 25 cent bubble mailer shipping upgrade!

  • Evolution in zombie flicks

I enjoyed this movie more than any other zombie movie I've seen. It shows that zombies don't have to be mindless walking corpses. Previously, zombies were only able to act on the most basic of animal instincts: To feed. Zombies are still human, and one of the most basic human instincts is to learn. This movie exhibits that zombies still have human brains, and still have the ability to think. Numerous years after the original outbreak, there are only several safe havens left, meaning that there's hardly anyone out there for zombies to eat. The undead have vague recollections of when they were alive, and they try to reenact this. When they aren't consumed with feeding, they can learn. If you're looking for a different type of zombie movie, look no further. The undead can think, learn, and ...

  • Land of The Dead Review

I love it. Anything by George Romero is a must-see, that's why I bought it. The zombie make up was by far the best I've seen in any zombie movie so far, with the sunken-in noses and showing jawbones. The plot was a little ridiculous, as far as zombies beginning to develop minds, but aren't all zombie movies a tad ridiculous? It's pretty darn good. Not to mention that one of the "photo-booth" zombies is Simon Pegg!! (Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz, for those of you with deprived teenage-hoods.) I saw that in the credits. It was like, extra awesome. So yeah, watch it. :D

  • Very disappointing

I LOVE zombie movies, but I was SO disappointed in this one. Very cheesy. It is graphic and bloody in ways that were ridiculous. It was like they were throwing it in to make the movie longer. If I am ever bored and desperately need a movie to watch, I will think twice before putting this one back into the dvd player. Try "28 Days Later" or "Dawn of the Dead" if you want a good zombie movie to buy.

  • Horror movie

  • Land of the dead

Not as good as the first one. John Leguizamo (sp?) is kind of dull in the film. Any film with Dennis Hopper is bound to be a flop. Decent special effects.
