About this product

Product Information

The Orange Box is a five-game collection of best-selling Valve hits and anticipated new releases. The most recognizable games in the package are 2004's critically acclaimed Half-Life 2 and its first two expansion packs, Episode One and Episode Two. They are joined by the standalone puzzle game, Portal, and the team-based online shooter, Team Fortress 2. Half-Life 2 continues the saga of scientist Gordon Freeman, who finds himself in a world overrun by an alien army known as the Combine. One of the key features in Half-Life 2 and its expansions is the use of physics to interact with the environment, whether it's pushing cinder blocks to create a staircase or using a gravity gun to hoist and then slam objects into enemies. Freeman will interact with several friendly characters as well as drive an assortment of vehicles in his quest to defeat the ruthless Combine.

Portal is a 3D puzzle game played from a first-person perspective. The object is to advance through a series of rooms by using a gun to create a means of escape. Instead of lasers or bullets, the gun fires one of two opposing portal types: orange and red. One could be used as an entrance, while the other used as an exit. Portals can be fired on most surfaces, and the gun can also be used to pick up and toss objects. Storage and weighted "companion" cubes found within rooms are creatively used to activate switches, knock out security droids, and more. Turret guns, toxic liquid, crushing walls, and other hazards must also be avoided throughout play. A sarcastic, female-voiced computer will monitor your performance and serves as a droll guide for each area. In addition to the main game, players can unlock both a challenge and an advanced mode for more deviously designed puzzles and goals.

Team Fortress 2 pits two rival construction crews against each other on six themed maps. Nine classes are available when forming a team: Pyro, Heavy, Spy, Scout, Sniper, Medic, Engineer, "Demoman," and Soldier. Each class offers unique abilities and equipment to complete objectives, from a medic's healing powers to a spy's disguises for eluding detection. Three play modes include Capture-the-Flag, Control Point, and Territorial Control. Capture-the Flag involves retrieving a briefcase from the enemy's base before the opposition does the same. Control Point has teams maintaining control over four areas on a map, two of which are in contention, before one side can capture the rival team's base. Territorial Control features five contested areas, allowing for a more open play style. Team Fortress 2 is further distinguished by its distinctive, cartoon-like visual style as well as its detailed stat tracking.

More than happy with my deal with The Grid. Meta Portal was listed as used but it is in excellent condition and it came with the box and original accessories as described. Lucky enough to snag it at a great bid price too. Packaging is superb and well protected. Shipping price is amazingly low for an item this big. You may have to wait a few days for the item to ship but it’s well worth it. I inquired about the shipping and they answered promptly to my satisfaction. Recommended pro seller AAA++++

Item is complete and 100% as described. Shipping was reasonable and item packaged well and arrived 100% intact though-out the shipping process. My 3 star rating for shipping charges in no way reflects upon the seller (who I would purchase from again) but the involuntary expense involved. The 3 Star rating for seller communication is due to the fact that I did not contact the seller outside the simple transaction. I am sure the seller would communicate well if the need arose. A 3 Star rating = 0!

    Excellent Game

it's got 5 game in it. Team Fortress 2, Portal 2 and Half Life 2, Half Life 2 episode 1, and Half Life episode 2. all smashing good games, the music selection astounding, the mechanics smooth as gelato, the map and enemy design are all excellent, the graphics are good for their time; 4K wasn't even a thing back then! Team Fortress is a multiplayer game only I believe so I'm not gonna play it too much, but the community is strong, the memes glorious! Portal 2 is just as iconic as Portal 1, the deadpan voice acting of G.L.A.D.O.S is excellent, it makes you think outside the box, but when you've got it down, the game still finds ways to change things up and surprise you!

  • Compatible with XBOX One? Kind of

I love Half-life 2 and PORTAL both amazing games, they are a lot of fun. The only issue is that im having is the games are not saving on the cloud save using my xbox one, playing them on the 360 is much easier, less issues. Also it seems that they tend to freeze on my xbox one which is an issue i never have on 360. Too bad the PS3 version looks like crap or i would've purchased it on that instead.

  • Blast From The Past!

If you have never played any games in the Half-Life series you will dig this. Story is compelling with a mix of role playing, FPS and puzzles. The graphics are great for this time period. Portal is a cool distraction and Team Fortress was one of the best online games ever. Can't beat this for 10 bucks. Half- Life is a must have and one of the greatest games of all time

  • The Orange Box

I sought out The Orange Box to to play Portal as it is the only way you can aquire it physically. It contains all parts of Half-Life 2, Portal (original), and Team Fortress 2. So far I love it, it's well worth it even second hand for what you get. If you've ever wanted to play any of these games you should pick up a copy.

  • The Orange Box for Xbox360 - so much value!

I only got this for 'Portal', which alone is well worth the purchase, but to get so many more games on 1 disc. This was my introduction to Valve gaming. You will not be disappointed. Portal is one of the smartest games ever, I wish I could have been a fly on the wall in the developer's treehouse as it was being laid out.
