About this product

Product Information

Hear your performance just the way it was intended with Vic Firth SIH1 stereo noise isolation headband headphones in black. These isolation headphones are designed for the true audiophile and musician and for other music professionals or aficionados as well. They’re optimized for use by a drummer, but work well with multiple types of instruments aside from the drum. They are also ideal for both listening to and recording music. They reduce noise levels by 24 decibels and are ideal for playing live on stage, recording in the studio, or playing along with recorded music. They allow just enough of the music in so that you can hear what you need to without the sound overwhelming you. These headphones have speakers of exceptional quality, so they produce authentic, lifelike, and natural reproduction of sound. This gives you an accurate sense of how the audience is hearing your playing or how it is going to sound on the finished CD. Developed with Vic Firth Signature artist Rod Morgenstein, these isolation headphones provide helpful hearing protection against the loud sound levels that naturally occur both on stage and in the studio. This protection helps to preserve your hearing and ensures that you will be jamming with these headband headphones for years to come. Vic Firth SIH1 headphones are designed for long-wearing comfort so that you can record for hours in the studio until you get just the sound you want or play as many encores onstage as the audience demands without hurting your ears or your head. The large, cushy foam ear cuffs fit comfortably over your ears so that you can wear them as long as you need without irritation. In addition, the headphones self-align so that they automatically fit precisely to your ears without you having to adjust them every time you put them on. And the plastic and rubber ear pieces are easy to clean, so even if you work up a sweat while playing, you will not damage your Vic Firth SIH1 headband headphones. They also feature a 12.5-foot cord for maximum and helpful freedom of movement so you will not get tangled up in your cord or other accessories. These Vic Firth SIH1 headband headphones use a 1/8-inch stereo mini plug that is compatible with a variety of portable devices, such as mp3 players and laptops, but they also come with a 1/4-inch adapter for studio gear such as amps and monitor stations. This makes them versatile so that you can plug them in to multiple kinds of gear, devices, and accessories such as amps, bass guitar, keyboard, and drums and percussion instruments without having to buy multiple sets of headphones for multiple devices, equipment, and instruments.

Better than older version, but not as durable.

I absolutely love the new design not only because of the improved fit, but also the vastly improved sound, esp. in terms of accuracy and mids and lows (which we need to hear as drummers). They are not overly bass-y either. Best option in this price point. HOWEVER, this new version is far less durable that the original. There is a problem with the wiring that starts to arise if you accidentally tug on the cable. But there is a fix for this that can be found on YuTbe that is very easy, and basically rectifies the problem (even if just temporarily), allowing you to enjoy these for years.

  • SIH1 Headphones

I do not find that these headphones are "too tight", which concerned me after reading several negative reviews. I've had mine on for at least 2 hours straight (at times) and never noticed any pain whatsoever. Maybe some of us drummers have bigger than average melons?!? Anyway, my pea-brain hasn't noticed any discomfort. The sound quality could be better when listening to tracks or your mp3 player, but hey folks... these are not high-end phones. If you're like me and use a click-track a ton... sound quality isn't a major concern anyway. I had also read complaints that the sound volume (via mp3 player) was too low, but I disagree completely. I've played with both my iPhone and my Zune player... never had to even come close to maxing them out. In my opinion, if you can't hear enough ...

  • Effective, but maybe too effective

So my main reason for purchasing these headphones was to protect my hearing since I had been blasting my music really loud in order to hear while playing drums. I actually had my original headphones (Sony MDR-XD100)plugged into computer speakers that were connected to another set of speakers and even with both speakers set at near maximum volume, it was still difficult to hear. I tried out these headphones and I was quite amazed and how well they work. They almost completely drown out the sound of the drums and allowed me to listen to music at a significantly lower volume than what I had set previously. Specifically, the high pitch sounds of the snare drum and cymbals are barely heard. Yes, this was quite shocking. These headphones were even more effective than actually mute pads. ...

  • Decent.

I was expecting these to act like the Vic Firth noise cancelling cans I already had except with the added benefit of it being a pair of headphones as well. Unfortunately they were not like that, mainly in the way that they fit over the ears, but all in all they are pretty decent. Should work well for in the studio. Might consider getting the new version of these if they work out.

  • Great for drummers!

Honest review here. I’ve been using these headphones for a week now and I gotta say buying these things has made me love drumming even more. They dampen the sound just enough to where you can hear your drums and music perfectly. They even somehow make my kit sound better with them on. Yeah sound quality isn’t anything compared to a $200 pair of headphones, but for drumming they’re perfect. So definitely overall a 5 star buy. Plus Frank Ocean wore these exact pair of headphones live a few months back so you know they gotta be good haha
