This the the amp I need for right now. Flexible design so it will be a while before I out grow it.

I was looking at reviews on YouTube for the Roland AC-33 when I came across the review for this one. While I might one day still buy an AC-33 (an amp designed for acoustic guitar), this one looks better for my purposes right now. (I have both electric and acoustic guitars.) I play on the street and I didn't want a cheap battery powered amp. (Particularly, I wanted one without all the hogwash, if you know what I mean.) THis unit is pro all the way and more than fills the bill. I don't have a car and this one is small and portable enough that I can carry it along with my guitar pretty easily in a Taxi cab (or walking down the street). But it's also got the power to play a small venue. It uses 8 standard AA batteries in a removable battery module. (... And I've already ordered 2 ...

  • 3 stars with the stock speakers, 5 with Jensen Mod 8-20 replacements

I really don't like the stock speakers, but this amp becomes pretty awesome with a pair of Jensen Mod 8-20 speakers. They're about $30 each. The stock speakers are a bit too bright and lacking in low frequencies. The Jensens fix this quite nicely. I use it with a Boss VE-8 for my guitar and vocal and that leaves the two other channels free for a second guitar and vocal, which is exactly what I needed.

  • Pricy, but worth it.

Sounds great but not much sustain. The independent channels sound, well, independent. I bought an extra battery cartridge, which I preload, to make switching out batteries more convenient and much quicker. The thing paid for itself in about three weekends of busking, or about twenty-four hours in total.

  • Awesome!

I am a guitar player and singer, I have a really nice Soldano amp, and a full Mackie PA system....but that is a bear to just pick up and "play" or practice somewhere, hence, all of that equipment usually stays at the practice space. I was looking for something small that encompassed everything needed to just "jam", alone, or with friends. I was a bit suspicious about the sound quality, but my brother swore by it. And man, I'm blown away at not just the great sound, but also the power you can get out of this thing! Also, I haven't used the guitar "amp" sounds much at all, but I can say that the reverb (both channels, mic and guitar) is plenty rich enough to play anywhere with. And I also really like the far 'clean' guitar setting for my acoustic--everything sounds very clean and loud, ...

  • Roland CUBE Street 5-W

A great little amp for both vocals and instrument inputs - it's like having two amplifiers in one, both letting you perform in small venues either on 120v power or battery. The vocal channel has inputs for microphone of another instrument using high or low impedance connections. On it, you can set reverb or tremolo to best fit your room or vocal style. There is no phantom power, so that is a little drawback to a single microphone setup such as in a bluegrass group. However, a Sure 58 does fine for such an arrangement. The instrument channel is really cool. It allows you to change from straight acoustic to stereo chorus, reverb, tremolo or simulated sounds with one easy click. I think it can also be done using an optional foot switch, which I have not yet tried. For a venue like a coffee ...
