Pioneer VSX 816 K 7.1 Receiver
This thing ROCKS! I read many reviews on many different receivers. I recently departed with my old receiver, an AIWA 3.1 channel unit that pushed 110 WPC. I liked the power it had and wanted the same again. Many receivers I reviewed fell out because of low power. Pioneer just seems to realize that power sells. This was in my price range. I chose this model over the newer VSX 817 K because of the remote unit. What can I say, this receiver provides more bang for my buck than many higher priced receivers. The only thing this one lacks though is a hook-up for my turntable, but that's Ok. I also have a Pioneer SA 8500 Integrated Amp (Circa 1973) that works just fine for this application. I've been a Pioneer man for many years. I bought the 8500 new when I was stationed in Germany. ... This thing ROCKS! I read many reviews on many different receivers. The MCACC mic and set up for surround worked flawlessly. My speaker system is 100% Klipsch and I needed something that would compliment them, This receiver does that to a T. I'm HAPPY, and if you had or are thinking about this receiver, you'll be happy with it as well!

It has all the bells and whistles that one could ask for a reciever that retails less than 1K let alone 500.00. The only thing it lacks from it's big brothers is an HDMI in&out for HDTV.Has a lage menu of sound processors that will dazzle anyones appetite. XM radio reciever and MACC level controls you'll only find in the big boys.All in all it's the best"Bang for the Buck" for medium size home theater rooms.It has all the bells and whistles that one could ask for a reciever that retails less than 1K let alone 500.00. Very good price range. Easy setup. Excellent audio quality. It has both standard, svideo and component video inputs/outputs and more input/outputs than any sane person would ever need. I have everything from my old cassete and turntable to my laptop and ipod hooked up to this thing... and everything in between and it all works flawlessly.

I bought it because my old receiver didn't have a digital input. The audio and video were out of time sync by about 3 seconds on any off-air HD broadcast viewed on my HDTV set. This took care of the problem. One nice feature is that I can have a 5.1 surround set-up in the family room and 2-channel stereo audio in the adjoining room. It's not a highpowered receiver but the features are numerous and it does the job. Good value for the money.I bought it because my old receiver didn't have a digital input. Can't beat this deal.
What a great buy. I wanted it for a bedroom. Didn't need HDMI,because I just hooked the Blu-Ray direct to the TV and used the optical cable for digital sound. So it worked great. Great sound and the price was the best part.
