Seems strong and sturdy. A half water fill boil up time is 1 min. and 44 seconds, as timed it from the initial sound of heat up. Not noisy either. Good for long term use, as has a simple open top lid, so limits chances of breaking lid switch mechanism, like some other kettles. The only thing is the outer kettle gets rather hot when boiled, so must be careful with touching.
