E. W. Bullinger's exhaustively researched study Bible A direct descendant of the great Swiss reformer, Johann H. Bullinger, E. W. Bullinger was a life-long scholar and writer. He studied at King's College, London, from 1860 through 1861 and was ordained in the Church of England in 1862. In 1867 he was appointed to the position of clerical secretary for the Trinitarian Bible Society, a post he would hold until his death. The Companion Bible by Bullinger was released in six parts, beginning in 1910, and Bullinger's identity as author of the notes and editor was purposely left off the title page. The introduction notes: "To the same end this Bible is not associated with the name of any man; so that its usefulness may neither be influenced nor limited by any such consideration; but that it may commend itself, on its own merits, to the whole English-speaking race." The text of The Companion Bible is the Authorized Version (KJV). Bullinger's notes relied upon many sources from the biblical studies of that era, particularly the emerging archaeological and linguistic discoveries of the late 19th century. Notes within the text of this 2,176 page, one-volume study Bible give valuable insights into the original Greek and Hebrew languages. Alternate translations, explanations of figures of speech, cross-references and an introductory detailed outline of each book and chapter are among the many features which Bible students, pastors, and seminarians will find helpful.     Excellent Resource

    I recommend his work highly; especially along with several other commentaries and resources, perhaps electronic if one is inclined as this seems best in comparing and cross-referencing (e-sword comes to mind). Gen 1:2 notes and 'numbers in scripture' leave me behind; but that does not take away from this good work. Ginsburg original document is available online, but a huge scholarly thing which overwhelmed me: but good to review. Bullinger, as in the preface, completed the compilation but I have found difficulty accepting his value in 'numbers in scripture' and a 'first earth age'; frankly I think he might have missed the 'forest for the trees' there: such things do carry through.. There is much good and a 'hard copy' is especially helpful for some of the chart timelines. Among many ...

    God's Word/Work is always GREAT and COMPELLING!

    I just don't understand why a book manufacturing company would make a Bible with such SMALL text and large exterior margins and a HARD cover. Content is extraordinary from Bullenger Compared to other bibles (especially the new age dribble) but would be better to have something that's easy to read in your lap etc I wonder what is going to be the excuse given.. "But, it would have been TOO EXPENSIVE to reproduce YOUR WORD God.." THAT cuts into MY PROFITS.. You understand don't YOU?? I have to make profits for my share holders! ..I mean REALLY.

    This is the best in Bible study tools with the scholarly notes and appendixes in this version, you def will have a MUCH clearer understanding of passages given in the Old and New Testaments. Pair that with a good Strong's Exhaustive Concordance and a Smith's Bible Dictionary and most importantly, the leading of the Holy Spirit and you have the makings for a serious learning session with our Heavenly Father!
