        Keeps fuel safe.

        With fuel prices so lo right now, I doubt there are too many people out there attempting to siphon gas out of vehicles' fuel tanks, but there's also the danger of tampering; that is, someone putting a foreign substance into the fuel tank. If your car doesn't have a locking fuel door, then a locking gas cap is a necessity to keep your fuel safe. This cap does what it's designed to do but with one minor twist. Most locking gas caps I've used have a spring-loaded lock cylinder, that returns to the locked position when you release the key. This allows one to unlock and remove the cap in one motion, then remove the key and it's locked when you replace it without using the key again. This cap has a two-position lock cylinder that can be left in either a locked or unlocked state. The lock ...

        Mislead per locking mechanism in previous featured review

        Fits good to my 2006 Tacoma. However, prior to purchase I was convinced by review blog offered that this remained unlock with key removal in unlocked position, Not! Springs back into lock position and key can be removed only in locked position. Why this is important to me is I fuel twice per day and with my truck all day except leaving it in unsecured places. Handy to have unlocked under used. Nice to have option to lock while outside the truck but a hassle to hand over key to attendant every fill up (this is Oregon).

        Locking gas cap?

        This gas cap did not lock. Two keys were in the box with it, and they fit just fine in the lock, but no matter which way I turned them, I could still twist the gas cap off easily. It’s a great quality cap, it just doesn’t lock.

        New gas cap gave added bonus.

        The cap fit and before I got the new cap my engine light stayed on. Code was Emissions leak. The 1st time I drove my truck with this new gas cap the engine light was off. Now my cap is safe from vandals and my engine light is off.
