HTP makes some of the best and most economical welding parts
I’ve been using HTP parts ever since my Eastwood mig welder stinger hose failed. Factory part was expensive. HTP offered an entire flex head gun, with a 5’ longer cable—complete ready to bolt on for less than just the factory gun. The consumables are different and It requires changing from screw on nozzles to push/twist nozzles which is what I bought here. Original HTP nozzle lasted over a year with heavy use. I bought a pack of replacements from Harbor freight, and I couldn’t get three months out of all of them. I ordered these as replacements and, so far they are holding up just like the original and I expect to get years out of them. I have included pictures of build quality between the two brands. First pic is with it on the gun. Second pic is comparison, the HTP nozzle is on the ... I’ve been using HTP parts ever since my Eastwood mig welder stinger hose failed. Factory part was expensive. From the outside, the HTP appears to have 2 machined grooves around the body —the HF nozzle appears to have 2 grooves poorly crimped. 3rd pic, The big difference is inside, (looking from rear), the HTP is bright brass, the HF version appears to be dull gray—like aluminum. 4th pic, looking from front, the HTP has a Hard bright green insulator that sticks out from the brass inner sleeve about 3/32” of an inch—this is important. The HF version has a soft silvery insulator at the exact length of the inner sleeve-which kind of creates a “shelf” for something to land on and easily touch the inner and out sleeves. What makes the nozzles fail, is when a piece of hot slag gets across the insulator and makes the entire nozzle “hot”. With the HF, one a tiny little ball can land and stick on the insulator contacting both inner and outer sleeves—plus the aluminum seems to make it stick better than brass. If you dig off the stuck slag, it duds away the soft insulator and creates a V-groove that makes the slag stick there easier. All the HF nozzles failed because of this and I couldn’t get the slag out easily. With the HTP, there is virtually no way a ball of slag can extend 3/32” and bridge the inner sleeve over the hard insulator. I do a lot of exhaust work—upside down welding, sometimes rusty, which makes getting slag in the nozzle more of a problem than flat welding. I absolutely cannot have an electrically hot nozzle under a car, and for safety and longevity, the cheap nozzles are not up to par. The HTP nozzles excel
