It has the NEC chip, which turned out to be an ASM-1042. Regardless, it was awesome. I had owned an FL1100 chipset card which there were no quality drivers for. This one was perfect. I used an 8TB drive without external power from another port and my card burned. This was my error and this post is to help other buyers. Don't overload it.
