    Obscure gem lost among rock's grunge years

    Sponge doesn't chart a lot of new territory, but the strength of this album is the songs. I don't think they ever got a lot of notice for this album, and I remember the two weeks or so I heard the title track played on the radio back in the 90's. Their previous album has some good songs, including their hit, "Plowed," but as a whole this album is a lot stronger. The songs are just better. My Purity, Got To Be A Bore, title track, My Baby Said, etc. Totally underrated album.

    AMAZING ALBUM

    Amazing second album from an amazing band that sadly not many people have heard of. I have told all my friends to look up this band, and the ones that do look them up really enjoy them. Everyone should know sponge. Wax Ecstatic is a great album, and everone should have their own copy. Sponge didnt turn into pop like many bands to gain popularity, they stayed the way we like them, punky and grungey.

    The Drag Queens Of Memphis

    Wax Ecstatic is by far the best Sponge album...although that's not saying a whole lot. The weakest tracks here are the bluesy ballads. If you can look past those you'll find a few decent grunge tunes including the excellent Got To Be A Bore. 3 Stars.

    Great turner upper

    I heard WAX EXSTATIC on 105.7 the point in ST.LOUIS on a feature called the turner upper of the day. I loved that song. The rest of the CD is ok but as I listen to it it is getting better.
