About this product

Product Information

Taking place a few hundred years after the Mega Man Zero series, Mega Man ZX begins after the fighting between humans and robotic people called reploids has ended, and the two are coming together to share technology and live in harmony. Mavericks, a rogue band of disgruntled reploids, are ruining the peace by attacking outer colonies of humans and robots. The heroes of the game are Vent and Aile, two young adults bent on revenge after the Mavericks attacked their transport ship, killed all their friends, and left them stranded in deep space. After absorbing X Biometals into their bodies, Vent and Aile are able to transfigure into a Model X form of reploid, complete with super powers.

After discovering the crazy new abilities they possess such as a long-range buster shot, dashing, and wall kicks, Vent and Aile explore an open map, completing story missions and side quests, defeating enemies, and collecting the Biometal they leave behind. If undamaged during the fight, the Biometal can be used to transform into different reploid models such as a Model HX or a Model LX, and will open up new skills and abilities as well as make previously unreachable areas available for exploration. If the Biometal is damaged, players must repair the item before using it. The lower screen of the DS is used to organize and apply Biometals and other items or abilities gained during gameplay. The touch screen provides information about the metals, pinpoints enemy weak spots, and creates and combines weapons.

  • MegaMan's metroidvania. A fine attempt that's pretty safe in its approach.

ZX is a great game. Great action-adventure platformer with tons of exploration, transformations and a great story though confusing at times as its not fully conveyed well in game. Taking place after the Zero series, humans and reploids have somehow come to peace with each other and created a new entity in humanoids. Humans are given mechanical parts and Reploids are given a lifespan like those of humans. So everyone in this world is either a pure reploid with an expiration date similar to what MegaMan 9 alluded to and all Humans all have mechanical features. Both of these states are required by law apparently so there are no pure human or reploid anymore. You play as either Vent or Aile. No gameplay differences and minor differences in story as well and sidequests. They are just some ...

  • Megaman ZX - Fun, but Flawed

Megaman ZX represents Capcom's first entry into the "Castletroid" genre of side-scrolling adventure games (well, actually, some would argue that Demon's Crest was their first, but that was a long time ago!). That having been said, they've clearly got a lot to learn about the genre conventions. In any Castletroid game, it's important that you provide the player with a good map...but the map in MMZX is about as navigationally useful as a Wendy's hamburger wrapper. Just because the map shows one area to the right of another doesn't necessarily mean that you have to GO right to get there. Early on, this is the source of much frustration...even after playing through the game a few times, as I have, you'd still be hard-pressed to remember where everything is. Another unwelcome "innovation" ...

  • fun game!

This was a very fun game! I enjoyed the whole "armor change" aspect of play, as different weapons affect mobility and grant different abilities. Learning how to switch armors on the fly is an important skill to master. Even with two characters, the replay value of the game is similar to that of other games in the Megaman franchise. It helps to put it down for a while and then replay it again later, otherwise it just gets repetitive. Favorite part: The secret armor isn't too difficult to earn but is a lot of fun to play as. While you're definitely not invincible, it is very satisfying to effortlessly lay waste to an entire screen of enemies at once that otherwise would give a lot of trouble. Worst part: Some areas are full of one-hit-kill obstacles (spikes, lava, etc) and can be ...

  • Mega Man ZX

Mega Man ZX is a good game, but its a big departure from classic Mega Man games. There was a lot of talking to NPCs and backtracking to find where to go next. It always felt kind of like a true Mega Man game, but always just shy of the real thing. When the action got going the game was great, but far too often you would just run and gun through a screen to get to the other side. The different models were really unique and fun to try out, but I always wanted a reason to use some of them more. In the end I relied on two of the suits and only used the others when the situation seemed to specifically call for it. All in all it was a fun game, but if you are expecting classic Mega Man, you might be a bit surprised.
