Combining a family-oriented superhero adventure with the brilliant animation of Disney's Pixar (the creators of MONSTERS INC. and FINDING NEMO), THE INCREDIBLES charts new territory in the technical wizardry of computer-generated cartoons. Using complex angles and a filmic sensibility, the animation feels like live action, and smart techniques such as cuts to "grainy film stock" give this movie instant sophistication. Writer-director Brad Bird, with his creative storytelling and well-paced character development, does the rest. This tale is set in a slightly futuristic society where superheroes are no longer appreciated (Read: But I didn't want to be saved!) and are forced to assume a very low profile. So, for Mr. Incredible (Craig T. Nelson), his wife Elastigirl (Holly Hunter), and his three fledgling superhero kids, maintaining a lifestyle of mediocrity in order to appear normal causes constant friction. When the opportunity suddenly arises for the Incredibles to use their powers to fight evil, it's trial-by-fire to learn to work as a superteam. Together they must stop the maniacal Syndrome (Jason Lee) from unleashing a murderous robot in a big city. Fast action and violence involving large explosions make this a film that is better suited for older children rather than the very little ones. Yet family themes and comic episodes prevail, with eclectic characters like Edna the fashion designer (voiced by Bird himself) and the iceman Frozone (Samuel L. Jackson) adding extra moments of fun.

    The Incredibles: Empowering for Kids

    The Incredibles is a wonderful movie for school-age kids. There are some scary parts, but my kids did fine being reassured that everything would end up ok. There are a couple of messages for kids that I really like in this movie. One, the teenage girl, learns to find her power and use it, and this makes her less "invisible." She learns to feel comfortable in her own skin. Two, the young boy, Dash, learns to harness his power, which gives him more options. (He can compete on the track team now!) There are many movies available that are aimed at kids, but this one is particularly enjoyable, thrilling and empowering.

    Great Family Movie

    I bought this movie for my fiance. He has wanted this movie for a long time so I bought it for his birthday. Now you are probably thinking this is a kid movie, but it doesn't have to be. This movie is for kids of all ages and their families. This is not one of my favorite Disney Pixar movie, but it sure is one of his. I think it has to do with being a guy and its about superheros. What little boy doesn't love superheros. Now this movie is a family classic because the family sticks together and figures out how to save each other and help each other. The entire family is made of superheros and any kid just loves that. So if you have a little boy of love to watch movies as a family I would recommend this one highly.

    My son LOVES The Incredibles

    My son absolutely loves this movie. He would watch it five times in a row...if I let him!! It is a great movie for the whole family to enjoy. I have to admit...I don't mind watching this one at all. It is cute, entertaining, and it jogs my sons imagination. He runs around the house all day saying "I'm Syndrome!!" while pretending to fly like a superhero. Buy it...you won't be disappointed.

    Exactly what we needed

    This is one of my daughter's favorite movies, and we owned The Incredibles DVD already, but had lost it. We had the packaging it came in (the DVD box), but no DVD. So when this one was advertised as just the DVD but no box, it was perfect. It was shipped in a plastic case so it was protected in the mail, and the price was awesome. Shipping was quick too (and free!). I was very happy with this purchase.

    High Marks

    This was a very entertaining and well written story. The characters were interesting to look at and The Incredibles as a unit worked well with one another. The whole idea of superheroes being placed into a protection program is funny and creative. I am eager to see more Pixar films after viewing this one. This movie is great for children and adults alike.
