About this product

Product Information

Revenge is the name of the game, both figuratively and literally, in this follow-up to Criterion's breakthrough sports car racer, Burnout 3: Takedown (truly a "smash hit"). As in its immediate predecessor, offensive driving and spectacular crashes are the focus of Burnout: Revenge, and this fourth game in the series is designed to offer more avenues to destruction than any of its predecessors, by featuring a greater capacity for real-time damage and car deformation, multilevel track layouts that allow players to ram their opponents from below or above, as well as from behind or in front, and a new "revenge meter" that encourages players to pay back -- with interest -- those who wrong them on the roads. Wreckage-prone racing occurs all around the world in this edition of Burnout, in areas inspired by real-world cities, such as Detroit, Rome, and Tokyo. A number of online modes are included as well, for properly equipped gamers who are raring to test their destructive driving skills against other human opponents.

This ground-breaking game has aged VERY well.

This game is epic. It's fun enough to play for hours on end, but it's simple enough to jump on and knock out a couple events in about 15 minutes. It has aged very well, and it still looks and sounds great, especially if playing on a PS3 that is backwards compatible. There are ton of cars and a ton of events, and even if you reach 100% completion, you can always just start over or keep trying to beat your old records. I love the arcade feel and the epic, over-the-top action. This is one of my favorite games of all time.

    Not what i thought.

Not what I thought. Don't get me wrong I love this game but it pauses during a race, so I crash as soon as the race resumes. Like I said I love the game, but the pausing during a race can go. I think I might try to resurface it. And if that don't work, then it looks like I'll be buying a new game.

  • Not too bad!

I've played the Burnout: 3 demo in past, and my friends couldn't stop playing the one stage over and over again! I decided to purchase this title, since I skipped out on Burnout: 3, and I wasn't disappointed! The same basic concept is in this one as the 3rd....destroy cars!! There's little more to do in this title, as the other types of "races" keep you interested! To start, there are a couple of ways to play during a "career mode". Race, which of course is first to the finish, smashing and shunting your way to victory. Crash, which they give you a section of a busy road and your object is to cause as much chaos as possible and creating a BIG dollar amount of damage to earn your gold medal. Road Rage, take out as many cars as possible, and they ...

  • Super fun and a classic among PS2 era racing games!

Hands down one of my favorite arcade racers from my childhood. Awesome sound track that shaped my music interest for years to come. Gameplay wise its the same as Burnout 3 Takedown but with a twist now same direction traffic can be checked at the competition to take them down with style.

  • Burnout Revenge is possibly -the- best racer ever made.

High speed frenetic stylized hyperaggressive combat racing. There's really nothing else to be said. If you don't own this game you should. Burnout's a great series and Revenge is its pinnacle. You occasionally get people who complain about it not being 'realistic' but if I wanted realism I wouldn't be playing video games, honestly. And it's realistic =enough= to feel like you're really screaming around the streets of Tokyo in a Ferrari. Each of the modes is exciting and fun. =Very= rarely a level can be frustrating, but it's usually more to do with getting stuck on a single event than an actual failing on the part of its design Other things to note: The soundtrack is for the most part composed of fast paced fist pumping rock tunes which fit the feel of the game very well. The tracks are ...
