About this product

Product Information

Straightforward and simple can be accurate words for describing the Boss GE-7 Equalizer guitar effect pedal. It can be suited for the types of guitarists who take a minimalist approach to guitar effects. The GE7 provides seven bands of equalization that can refine tone while lending both warmth and presence to playing. An equalizer can be a useful piece of gear if you want to replicate studio quality tonality with your amp. The Boss GE-7 guitar effect pedals are catered towards producing a good signal. Signal boosting capabilities and effects are important for helping musicians produce appropriate volume. This EQ pedal can open a world of sonic possibilities. With seven bands, the GE-7 can transform the musical experience and leave you with high solo power. This can not only add extra juice but also more punch to your riffs across the entire spectrum. The range is engineered so that bass notes boom with intensity. At the same time, treble notes can ring with crystal clear precision that hearkens back to the days of vintage MXR effects. This compact, pedalboard friendly stompbox can be useful for many types of rig. It is capable of providing a clean signal boost or adding a unique vibe thanks to its specific type of EQ curve. Guitarists from all genres of music can use the Boss GE-7 Equalizer. This is because of its simple design and ability to transform tone. A smooth, silky sound can be lent to a variety of playing types. This unit is a very versatile equalizer because of its wide range. Each band offers EQ that ranges from 100 Hz to 6.4 kHz. This range can be good for a wide variety of guitar sounds and musical styles from the hardest rock to the softest jazz. The vibe of your music is what defines you as an artist. One of these Boss accessories can help you obtain your own unique sound with an immersive audio experience. The EQ afforded by this pedal can allow every nuance of your guitars and amplifiers to shine through. A boost/cut of +/- 15 dB per band can offer the highest level of customization and control. One of the great benefits of this feature is that it can help eliminate feedback. Noise reduction can work with your amps to allow you to produce a clear sound with only the effects that you want. This is particularly the case when this Boss pedal is combined with a distortion effect. The boost can also be helpful when you need added volume and resonance for solos. The unit is powered by a single 9 V battery and measures just 2.9 inches by 2.3 inches by 5.1 inches. It weighs less than 1 pound and can take up a minimal amount of space in your road case of accessories and effects pedals. This sturdy, black and tan pedal can stand up to years of use. It can be equally suited to stage work as well as duty in the studio. The convenient sliders can be easy to use and can be mastered by the novice in a short period of time.

I didn't notice the "for parts or not working" when I purchased the pedal, so I was concerned it wouldn't be working. I tested it out and it works fine, what's going on?

    Good tool for your pedalboard

I learned about how useful this pedal can be from "That Pedal Show" - episode titled "Yes You Do Need A Graphic EQ Pedal!" I'm currently using it at the end of my pedal chain to dial out a bit of high-end noise, but watch that episode to learn other ways of using this pedal - e.g. as a volume boost - and where it can be placed in the chain. I took one star away because the pedal has a bit of hiss - but I solved that using a Monte Allums GE-7 plus mod. Pedal is quiet as a mouse now.

  • Great pedal for the money.

Overall, I am very pleased with the Boss GE-7. I use it with a Vox AC30C2 and an Epiphone Les Paul Standard. The GE-7 allows for wonderful control of your guitar's tone and with the addition of the "level" control gives you the ability to use the pedal as a clean boost. This little stomp box can make my "classic rock" AC30 drive right into the more metal-ish zone with scooped mids and boosted highs and lows. On the negative side, the pedal does color your tone a bit. With all of the sliders centered the natural tone of your guitar will be muddied a little. This isn't really a deal breaker to me as the whole idea behind an EQ is to change/enhance the tone by moving the sliders all around. Also, when the highs are boosted the pedal introdices a bit of noise ...

  • A must-have pedal after some modifications

Great pedal, but it was really noisy. I replaced the op amps with low-noise versions, replaced several capacitors and the power LED. Now it performs very well. This is a must-have pedal. It gave my 1968 Fender Bronco amp some of the midrange it has been missing.

  • A fine sounding EQ pedal that quickly solved my sound reinforcement need!

I bought this particular EQ on the advice of a sound man that I work with regularly. I do a lot of gigs as a multi-instrumentalist, and was having issues with feedback and low output coming from my resonator guitar. Per his suggestion, I bought the GE-7 here on eBay and literally used it on a gig the day it arrived - it worked great and resolved both issues with zero "side effects". In addition, the pedal is not expensive or difficult to use - solid build, small footprint and sounds great, what more could you ask for!
