Gas Powered Games' futuristic strategy title returns with a new campaign mode, customizable armies, and an assortment of other enhancements. Set 25 years after the conclusion of the first game's "Infinite War," Supreme Commander 2 has you playing as the commander of one of three conflicting factions: the United Earth Federation, the Illuminate, and the Cybran Nation. The single-player game spans 18 story-driven missions, featuring large-scale battles with land, air, and naval units. Acquire new weapons and technology to outfit and upgrade your army, instantly transforming units into more powerful forms with added capabilities. Also available are "experimental war machines," from a unit that bounces bombs off its massive shield to a vortex-creating monstrosity that sucks up nearby enemies, to influence each side's progress in unusual ways. Supreme Commander 2 includes a more streamlined economy and user interface than those found in its predecessor, with added emphasis on tactics and decision-making on the dynamic battlefield.

    The new disk arrived promptly, it was sealed and worked well. Installation took some time, it looks like a lot of content is arriving from Internet, and be aware, that this can be much longer than an hour. The game as it came on the disk was quite raw, but, considering it is not the first its year, updates were installed seamlessly from the Web, and I did not see the game at its worse. The game was stable, and did not make any "troubles" (in Win7 with 16GB). For the price 5.50 (delivered disk) plus extra content from Web (6.69) the game is inexpensive, and is interesting to play, and thus can be recommended to try. It reminds the "previous one", while does not reach the level of Supreme Commander in most aspects, including, surprisingly, even quality of graphics (I use both at 1920x1080). ...

  • Supreme Commander 2 - Is it worth it?

    Disappointing factors: 1) Not as grand in terms of scale, size, unit cap and map like its predecessors. 2) Pointless campaign missions (without going into details on progression of story) 3) Have to have a steam account and steam sign up to play. Very dissappointing if you want to modify game files or use trainer/cheat (which, after beating the game, can add some "less intense, more fun" type gameplay), since the game won't let you. Compared to Supreme Commander and Forged Alliance, this is nothing. 4) Stupid tech trees that will force you to use pretty much the same strategy to defeat opponents, even at high difficulty settings. 5) Few units, experimental units aren't as scary as they were in previous two titles. 6) UNIT CAP to only 300. WHY? SC and SCFA had higher and were ...

  • Not a bad game - plan on buying DLC for $10

    First, you should know this game is NOT as detailed or in depth in it's story as SCFA. SCFA was where I was introduced to the SC line and it's a MUST have have. With that said, SC2's skirmish is more fun IMO. We've had far more fun playing against each other online than the repetative missions. Turning off experimentals, nukes, artillery, and shields does make for a fun matchup. There is an update for $10 from steam that'll also add a bit more dimension to the game, but no more missions. Just maps, tech, and units. Overall, I'd give the game a B-. Worth buying for $20, but you do need a steam connection and you should spend the extra $10 for more DLC.

  • Supreme Commander 2:

    This game comes with many features of the first Supreme Commander as well as some UN-needed ones removed. The new system for unlocking units and advancements is fantastic. With the new system, you can be producing better units much faster getting you into battle sooner. The new power and mass acquisition and usage updates allow for easier management and production of your units. Over all, I find this to be a descent improvement over the first Supreme Commander. The removal of un-needed features makes for a great, lag-free experience.

  • Forged Alliance was way better

    Level design stinks my 5 y/o niece could design better maps than this. Levels are just too simple and straight forward there is no major strategy shift like in Forged Alliance where you build up your land force and achieve your goal. Then the map expands and whoa watch out you gotta retool for a water assault while still pressing the land attack. Seems like a step back for the in game economics and advance queueing features you absolutely have to have the resource before you can queue up the units instead of build up your queue and pay them off over time. I wouldn't pay more than $20 for the game its ok if you're bored and just need something to waste a weekend on but there is virtually no replayability. I played it once and never had the desire to go back through and replay some of the ...
