I have bought other products from corkking all pretty good, the Burnt Burl Inlay rings are indeed Burnt Smelling. The smell is so strong I may not use them. They remind me of the smell of a house fire my sister had, and trying to salvage what we could but the odor permeated everything. I think holding your rod handle and then touching bait would deter fish. I may soak them or let them air out for a while to see if the burnt scent dissipates.
