About this product

Product Information

Enthusiasts of the venerable Mosin-Nagant bolt-action rifle, one of the most basic of the Russian and Soviet small arms, will find a wealth of information in the latest Soviet military manual translation by Maj. James F. Gebhardt. The manual, available in English for the first time, covers disassembly and assembly, cleaning and lubricating, and firing for zero at the specified zeroing range of 100 meters. Described in detail are all the steps, procedures and criteria that will ensure proper and safe function of the rifle or carbine. Also included are several data tables describing the ballistic performance of the 148-grain type-1908 projectile and the weight and length of the basic rifle and carbines in various configurations. For those interested in the sniper version of this rifle, an appendix describes both the PE and PU scopes. This is the ultimate source for Mosin-Nagant owners.

  • The Official Soviet Mosin-Nagant Rifle Manual

This is an excellent resource for cleaning, disassembling, repairing and firing the Russian rifles collectively known as the 'Mosin Nagant' rifles. This includes the most common Model 1891/30 Rifle as well as the Model 1938 and Model 1944 Carbines. I would have to say that it is not the best source, since there are websites which show illustrated step by step instructions for disassembly, and YouTube has a large assortment of videos showing folks doing all sorts of things to their Mosin Nagant rifles. For more information, I strongly recommend the website 7.62x54r.net. For those of you who want to check out things on YouTube, just search 'Mosin Nagant.' Still, this is an excellent reference for my library of service manuals. It is good to have the original Russian handbook ...

  • A must have book for every mosin collector & shooter

This book is simply a MUST HAVE book that every collector & shooter of Mosin Nagant rifles should have. This manual gives details for every aspect of operation of these fine rifles. Disassembly, cleaning, inspection, troubleshooting, operation & much more. This is the original manual provided to Soviet troops whom were issued the Mosin Nagant rifle & has been translated into english in this must have book. Unlike other manuals, this one is complete & covers everything, including scopes & methods for firing & more.

  • Excellent Manual!

This book is a wonderful tool for anyone owning any Mosin-Nagant rifle or carbine. It is a complete, comprehensive guide, far beyond a takedown manual or the like. It covers aspects such as inspection, assembly, disassembly, cleaning, troubleshooting, firing stances, firing suggestions, balistics profile and more. A must have for anyone who wants to work on their Mosin-Nagant or just for some interesting historical technical reading on one of the most enduring firearms in history. I am the proud owner of several firearms including a Mosin-Nagant Model 1891 Dragoon 1925r Hex Receiver Izzy, Model 1893 1938 Re-Chamber to 8mm Turkish Mauser and 1916 Lee-Enfield SMLE Mk III. This is, by far, the best manual I have on ANY of my weapons.

  • Mosin Nagant and Sniper Basics

the book is very helpful in becoming familiar with the operations of the mosin nagant rifle. the section on sniper version with scopes is very informative. it helps the user of the rifle with sighting in the scopes used on the rifle. it also shows the user the configuration of both the pu and pe scope version and the mounts. it also contains information pertaining to elevation and windage settings for the pu scope and how to how to sight in the pe version. it gives the maintenace basics as well as a parts breakdown of the rifle. this book is a must for anyone with the sniper version of the mosin nagant. it provides practically everything a user needs to use the rifle at the range or in the field.

  • An accurate description/title of the book's contents.

I am very happy with this book. It has an abundance of relevant information on the whole series of Mosin-Nagant rifles and how the Soviet Army instructed its troops to use them effectively. The large size of the book itself and the clear translation of the manual are a plus all the way around. As a source book for those interested in these rifles, operator/collector/historian, I readily recommend this book. And it is reasonably priced as well.
