    The perfect size steam pressure cooker

    Over the last week and a half I swear I have canned half a cow, a whole hog and every chicken in the coop! Well not quite that much but I have given it quite a workout. With each batch I run my appreciation for this pressure canner grows. I had debated between this one and a 23 quart unit. When you get these filled up plus the water it gets heavy quickly. That being said I made the right choice in the 16 quart unit. This cooker does not disappoint.

    Bad buy

    I hate it. I have to put coins on the valve for weight or it won't get past 12 psi. Constant horrible noises, constant pressure leaking. BAD FOR ELECTRIC BILL because you have to keep burner on high. My last one would hold pressure and I used it on low. Wish I bought an old used one

    Good first canner

    Since this is my first canning experience, it is hard for me to say anything other than it was easy to use despite my inexperience and I was successful with it. I am really happy to have it though, and hope it lasts a long time. It came with easy to understand booklet of instruction as well.

    Good but discolors

    It has a problem of discoloring at water level in the bottom. Smells while and after use. Otherwise it is a good product. Easy to use. Good value and durable.

    Difficult to maintain correct psi.

    I have a gas range and it was very difficult to control the psi . . . in a recipe that called for 10 psi, I was unable to keep it there as my gauge rose to 15 psi even on the lowest setting of my range. When comparing experiences with other using this PC, I found that the problem was not restricted to me and my stove. Other users were advised by Presto to replace the gauge with a weight system by removing the gauge altogether and substituting weights. The parts are avail able at the user's cost and not offered by the company.
