About this product

Product Information

Based on the cult British television show from the 1960s, THUNDERBIRDS explodes into the 21st Century with this thrilling live-action version of the franchise. Drawing on similar themes and familiar characters, director Jonathan Frakes (STAR TREK: FIRST CONTACT) sticks closely to the spirit of the original show while making use of the new technology available to him 40 years after the program first aired to give the film a modern look. The International Rescue organization--a team of highly organized law enforcers--is the focal point for the movie. International Rescue is based on a remote desert island location, and is called into action whenever the world's sinister masterminds threaten to disturb the balance of society. Jeff Tracy (Bill Paxton) heads up the team, and employs his sons to help him out. Teenager Alan Tracy (Brady Corbet) is a little too young to join, and is constantly frustrated by his lack of opportunity to join the brothers on their missions. But when the evil villain known as The Hood (Ben Kingsley) traps the International Rescue team in outer space, it seems Alan's time has come. The Hood steals one of the many spacecrafts designed by International Rescue, and executes an outlandish scheme to rob the Bank of England. Alan and his pal Fermat (Soren Fulton) attempt the double-whammy of rescuing the trapped family and stopping The Hood, by drawing on help from the sultry detective Lady Penelope (Sophia Myles), her butler Parker (Ron Cook), and a few gadgets and vehicles courtesy of International Rescue. With comic references to the original show scattered liberally throughout the movie, and a sense of fun and adventure, this is a film that should appeal to both old and new fans of these popular crime-fighting characters.

  • The movie doesn't hold up to the tv series, but my 4 yr old son loves it.

This movie is based on the classic t.v. series from the 60's. The show was created by Gerry Anderson and his wife Sylvia. Instead of animation or live action, they used marrionettes, which at the time was quite a revelation in tv. The show was based on the Tracy family lead by the father who is a retired astronaut. With a family fortune, he created a secret organization dedicated to saving the world in times of disaster. This organization was named after the name given to the special space ships they created... The Thunderbirds. There are five major space ships, each piloted by a son of Mr. Tracy. The movie is sort of a prequel to the tv series. It centers around a young Alan Tracy and his freinds and how he is wanting to join the team. All around, it is a good action/ adventure movie.

  • Thunderbirds (2004, DVD)

I bought this movie because I liked the Thundebirds television series of the 1960s. Instead of puppets that were used as the cast, humans played the parts of the roles. Sofia Myles played the very feminine secret agent Lady Penelope. Anthony Edwards of Top Gun fame plays Brains, aka Professor Hackenbacker. Ben Kingsly plays "The Hood", who is set on revenge against the Thunderbirds. The youngest son of the father of Thunderbirds, wishes he could fly along with his family and rescue those who need rescuing. There is scene in the movie where the son shows disrespect to his father and throws a tantrum. The father believes to be a Thunderbird, you can`t cut corners or you need to pay your dues. There are a few profanities, tense moments and some fight scenes in the movie. There is a scene ...

  • THUNDERBIRDS GERRY ANDERSON MOVIE AWESOME REMAKE

I thought this recent Thunderbirds movie based on the Gerry Anderson 60's TV show was awesome! I think because the movie stayed true to the concepts, characters and Thunderbirds rocket ships it really made it turn out great! Also being that it was a production by Jonathan Frakes(Riker/Star Trek Next Generation)who also directed it was most likely what also made this movie turn out so well. I think if it was done by someone other than Frakes it may have not been as great, but Frakes knows Sci-Fi and he lent his experience to this production which was well done. I am usually critical of remakes as though nothing can can be as good as the original, in this case though it took the main elements of Thunderbirds and made it better by having real people instead of puppets as the characters. All ...

  • perfect condition and average shipping

this is my daughter favorite movie. my husband and i looked forever to find it at a store. thank you for selling it on line. although it did not arrive before Christmas, liked we had hoped, and did not arrive in time for the new year, it was a great joy giving it to her when it finally arrived. i did not realize when it was coming from for it to take so long. in the future i will still order from here because the price was great, i would just do it much much sooner.

  • thunderbirds are goooooooooooooooooooooooo
