About this product

Product Information

Inspired by the beloved segment of the Walt Disney classic FANTASIA, THE SORCERER'S APPRENTICE moves the setting of the story to modern-day Manhattan, where decidedly average teen Dave Stutler (Jay Baruchel) hones his magical powers under the tutelage of master sorcerer Balthazar Blake (Nicolas Cage). Malevolent wizard Maxim Horvath (Alfred Molina) is determined to claim New York City as his own. And Horvath isn't alone in his diabolical endeavor, because by joining forces with the sinister sorcerer, pop illusionist Drake Stone (Toby Kebbell) aspires to gain powers beyond his wildest imagination. Realizing that he can't take on Horvath and Stone alone, Blake recruits Stutler as his reluctant assistant and begins training him the battle that will determine the fate of the Big Apple. Teresa Palmer and Monica Bellucci co-star.

Nice Middle to Weighted Move as I and My Son like this movie, I am a fan of the Medieval/Knights/Dragons, etc, a good family movie.

This movie offers nice clean romance, inspiration of life about life and its ups and downs, inspiration about being able to pay attention to what you do and what you see in yourself and what others see that lots of time is far more positive than you perceive. The movie brings action, humor and the good verses evil plot.

  • Great Movie

Who doesn't wish they could unleash fire from their fingertips and make mops come to life? The Sorcerer's Apprentice enjoyably captures this fantasy as a young physics student named Dave (Jay Baruchel, She's Out of My League) learns that he's the inheritor of the powers of Merlin--and suddenly finds himself in the middle of a war between two of Merlin's protégés, Balthazar (Nicolas Cage) and Horvath (Alfred Molina, Spider-Man 2). The Sorcerer's Apprentice is a special-effects blockbuster--but it's a pretty good one, not reaching the charmed heights of Pirates of the Caribbean but so much better than Prince of Persia. It runs out of air toward the end, but before that it's jauntily entertaining, with capable dialogue, clever curlicues of plot, and most importantly delightful performances: ...

You know, I think this movie got a bad rap on release. Sure, it was labeled as another "Jerry Bruckheimer Summer movie" but really, it's actually very good. Yeah, I know Nicolas cage can be very hit or miss with his movies (and lets be honest, more are miss than hit nowadays) but this is one Disney action blockbuster that you probably should take the time to view. Cage plays Balthazar, one of three apprentices to the sorcerer Merlin, he spends his time looking for a "chosen one" who can defeat the evil Morgana. This, as you can imagine, takes awhile... a long while. Actually, it takes thousands of years, and when Balthazar does find Dave, who he hopes to be the new Sorcerer, he turns out he is a wimpy dork of a kid (who is played to perfection by Jay Baruchel) So Balthazal trains Dave for ...

  • A must have for any collection.

This is a modern twist on a classic as only Disney can pull off. This contains a colorful mix of comedy, magic, action, and drama. Fit for family's to enjoy together.

  • A New Disney classic worth collecting! Blue Ray makes it come alive.

Anyone who has seen Fantasia will be waiting for the Apprentices mop scene. I bought it expecting special effects and was not disapointed. Although the constant stream of jokes gets a bit tiresome, and the storyline is usually predictable, the light show and transformations are seamless and well played. I bought this movie, because like most Disney magic based movies, there is just too much to see the 1st, 2nd and even 3rd time.
