About this product

Product Information

Delivering remarkable optical performance and spectacular photo quality, Konica Minolta MD 50-millimeter f/1.7 MF AF lenses are both compact and beautiful. They're suitable for photographers who are in search of simplicity and elegance. With half a dozen elements and five groups of lenses, aberrations in photos are minimized. Due to its 18-inch focusing distance, this lens delivers clear and beautiful images from different distances. Capture close and detailed items or faraway objects with the exquisite magnification ratio of the lens. It takes a 49-millimeter thread filter size to safeguard the glass from mechanical damage, dust, and scratches. Rely on the outstanding minimum aperture to capture large, colorful portrait photos. As the third and most advanced in this series of lenses, the Minolta MD 50-millimter was released in 1981. Compared to the older models, this manual Minolta is made with the modern materials of the time, including multicoated elements. It is the last standard kit primes that Minolta made for cameras with an SR mount, and it is very lightweight at less than 6 ounces. Quite small, it extends only 1.4 inches from the front of the camera and is 2.5 inches in diameter. This Minolta 50mm lens has full click stops at f/1.7, f/2.8, f/16, and f/22. There are half-stop clicks from f/2.8 through f/16. No matter what opening you use, you will get the sharpness that you expect from this Minolta 50-millimeter.You can shoot sharp images as close as 1.5 feet with a maximum magnification of 0.15. When used with an APS-C camera, the 76-millimeter effective focal length turns this Minolta MD lens into a great short prime lens. With its large f/1.7 aperture, you can shoot at faster shutter speeds. Manual focus is quick and easy with the rubber focus ring. It moves smoothly and requires only a quarter turn to move from 450 centimeters to 1 meter. Turn it another 40 degrees to take the focus out to infinity. If you want to use a hood, it is easy to attach. Just fit the spring-loaded tab to the lip located on the front of the lens. There is virtually no vignetting with the lens, even when the aperture is fully open. Bokeh effect is great, with the lens producing excellent results when used at a short distance and shallow depth of field. Whether using it for daytime or night shots, the results will be the smooth circles you are looking for in your bokeh. When this lens is used as intended, you will have no distortion and your pictures will be sharp at all openings. The color balance is neutral. Its metal construction, other than the ring, provides a solid feel, making it easy to mount. The rubber manual focus ring is easy for your fingers to find and grip. The Konica Minolta MD 50-millimeter f/1.7 MF is a great accessory for your Konica Minolta 35-millimeter SLR. As one of the lightest and smallest M-mount lenses, it makes a great addition to your photography equipment.

The scissors arrived quickly and decently packaged. They were a little bit smaller than what I anticipated as I have large hands and fingers, but they are not unusable for me. The seller provided no dimensions of the scissors in their listing, so I guess that's on me for buying something so blindly. They seem sharp and should work okay for me and should for others in our families first aid kit.The seller did work with me on the price and free shipping, so an okay deal! Thank you!

    portrait lens

I use it sometimes with a Sony a6000 body. I've enjoyed the good quality of this lens, especially with the prices they sell for. It's good for when you want a portrait, more close in kind of shot.

  • Best value on the planet

No one can argue the quality of Minolta glass. I'm tickled to death that my Sony body is compatible with the old Minolta lenses. This 50mm is a great everyday lens but particularly good for portraits indoors. This lens excels in low light situations and has a very nice creamy bokeh. The sharpness is a bit soft at 1.7 and probably performs best at f4-f8. Having said that, however for the price I don't think you can find a better lens out there. It's autofocus is very fast on my A550. I think it's a winner!!

  • Good $20 portrait lens for MFT cameras!

$20 for a portrait lens for your mirrorless system (if you have an MD adapter) is quite a deal. Mind you, this lens on modern day cameras isn't too sharp, but for portraits, you don't want sharp. Unless, of course, you're going for that grungy look or if you want to show exaggerated wrinkles and blemishes for a dramatic look, then this lens is probably not for you. But hey, $20 let's you experience the Focal Length at least for a really cheap price.

  • Excelent lens for Sony Alpha

I bought it to use with a Sony Alpha 200. Until then i understood why people always said that Sony could not be compared with Canon and Nikon. But using the 50mm the colors and sharpness the camera becomes much better! Its still not a profi camera, but the results are excelent. Beautiful bouquet, the aperture f1.7 makes it possible to take great photos without flash in almost all indoor places. The lens are fast, cheap and build to last.

  • Konica Minolta Normal AF 50mm f/1.7 Lens

Every photographer of any camera should have a standard 50mm lens. This Minolta 50mm f1.7 lens is quite unique for it's appearance. Though it looks very cute and small, it does quite a lot of neat things. Photo quality is outstanding due to the fact that it has an eye like us. Very good lens for low-light pictures and sharp tact pictures from a strong/rugged body. When I received mine from auction from Ebay, I loved the look of it. I treat this thing better than my other Minolta Lens. Installed it onto my A200 and A900, worked flawlessly and very fast focusing. Pictures turned out OUTSTANDING!! Recommended. Get it for a good price on EBAY!! I've heard that the Minolta 50mm f/1.4 is better and more expensive because it's a better quality lens. But I think I'll stay with the f/1.7 for now ...
