Japanese amimae at it's most basic level.
This movie is very different from what you would find with American animation. The Japanese influence is very obvious as expected. It has a good plot line and makes me think of the movie, Avatar, due to some of the characters. The plot is sinister and the ever changing. I saw it originally almost 14 years ago and forgot the outcome. I'm glad because I enjoyed it all over again. I don't think it is for everyone. It was not necessarily a feel good, happily ever after, type of movie, but it is meant to influence your conscience. Enjoy it once. I've been collecting this directors movies for a while, but I had never seen Princess Mononoke until recently. In a word excellent. this definitely beats the rest of the studios productions my other favorite is not produced or directed by this studio The production is great, the voice acting excellent, the animation, and illustrations are beautiful, and the dialogue is excellent.
