About this product

Product Information

White Knight Chronicles is a console-style role-playing game designed exclusively for PlayStation 3, set in a fantasy world of magic, monsters, and melee combat. Battle progresses with a real-time flow, in which players can control any character in their party, but only one at a time. The other characters fight according to a detailed combat script that the player sets up before the fight begins. Action Chips accumulate during combat, filling a gauge in the corner of the screen, and these can be used to create powerful combo attacks that do extra damage. Action Chips are also used to allow the game's hero to transform into the White Knight, a towering and powerful armored warrior who can grant bonuses to teammates in battle. The story begins at the coming-of-age banquet for the beautiful Princess Cisna, which is unceremoniously interrupted by a mysterious warrior called Dregias who can transform himself into a huge and imposing Dark Knight. The princess is rushed away from this would-be-kidnapper by a brave young man named Leonard, and together they discover a set of magical armor which allows him to transform into the equally daunting White Knight. <br><br>As players win fights and earn experience, they can develop their characters by improving magical abilities and combat attributes. Dozens of powers and abilities may be modified for each character, allowing for extensive customization. White Knight Chronicles was planned and programmed by Level-5, the veteran RPG studio that created the Professor Layton games for Nintendo DS and the Dark Cloud series on PS2. Away from the swords-and-sorcery action, as in Dark Cloud, White Knight features a "Georama" mode that allows players to also design and develop a small village. This village comes to serve as the character's safe resting-place between future adventures. The layout of the village and the buildings players choose to add influence the non-player characters who will come to live there, and thus may alter the selection of quests that become available and even the outcome of the story. Through their Georama villages, players can also access a "Sub-quest" multiplayer mode that allows them to adventure in instanced dungeons with up to four other players, each controlling an avatar with the equipment and abilities of his or her current version of the single-player story's main character, Leonard.

  • Traditional RPG .. and a great one !!

It's a classic rpg where a hero saves the princess (and the world as a bonus). The combat pace is kind of slow at the beginning, since the characters do not have many skills yet. The graphic is good. The game consists of two main mode: story mode and online mode. The online mode allows you to complete more quests with other players. One special feature is the georama system, where players can build their own town and another player can visit the town. P.S.The rumor said the remastered version of this game will be included in White Knight Chronicles 2 (YES, a sequel!!).

  • classic role playing

i bought the game cause the box looked really cool.it struck me as a role playing game i got a good deal on the game and the guide.great crisp graphics.it looks like a game i am going to enjoy from start to finish.the game has a young orphan named leonard wo is the hero of the story fraught with murder, betrayals and war. tha magi who are an evil army wants to overthrow balandor to gain great power and to obtain the white knights, which if they pocess will give them this great power to rule there world.princes cisna is the heir to the throne of the city the magi want to take over.she seen her mother assasinated as a young girl and she does not choose to speak since then. eldore is a wizard/solidier who comes to balandor.he is a cipher of sorts but has skill with a sword and magic. there is ...

  • MMOs should look to this game for inspiration.

When I first put the game in my PS3 (and waited past the start screen for the opening video) I was entranced by the game's music and graphics. After that I was surprised at the customization tool for your character. They pretty much let you choose everything from iris color to the size of their feet. The character you create, however, is not the main character;in fact, they are just a tag-along that shows up in all the scenes. In online play, of course, they are your character. The online system of WKC is very unique. It allows you to create your own "hometown" using materials and money gathered from both offline and online play and recruit residents of cities from offline play to become part of your online town and thus allow for free items online and the ability to buy incredibly rare ...

  • Slow RPG, decent story. Battle system is terrible.

I bought this game with average expectations for it. Its a nice, long RPG that will eat up some of you time. The battle system is lame, boring, slow, and its almost impossible to die. The game could be so much better but the battle system kills it. You can't seem to really customize attacks of other party members and they go off and fight other monsters while you are battling. You're not really going to die anyway, but its annoying. When I playing it I kept thinking that it was just like "Rogue Galaxy" for PS2, and similar to FF XII. I'm pretty critical of this game, but if you like a nice slow RPG to enjoy it may be for you. FYI, I'm not using the online part yet.

  • WKC - Is well worth a shot.

This in my opinion is a very underrated game by critics. On the plus side it seems to be well received by the end users that actually play it. I would have liked to give it say 4.7/5.0 stars for a few little things that irk me. I see NO reason more games can't implement a co-op story mode play like you get in Saints Row 2. That would make several people I know way more interested in playing this. But even that being said, the multiplayer Guild Quests are fun. I am truly hoping they localize the languages and we get WKC 2 here in the US.
