About this product

Product Information

Aquaman's first starring role in a console video game has the DC Comics superhero battling arch-villains Lava Lord, Black Manta, and Ocean Master through 24 oceanic levels to protect the lost city of Atlantis. The game is viewed from a third-person perspective underneath the ocean's depths as Aquaman uses the powers of telepathy and a morphing hook hand to eliminate the various enemies threatening his deep-sea home.

The action is divided into two distinct phases: shooting sequences and melee combat. The shooting sequences take place from behind a submersible watercraft as players explore the underwater depths filled with ruins, secret bases, and enemies. The vessel automatically propels itself through the water, so players must focus on avoiding contact with projectiles and hazards as well as firing torpedoes at incoming threats. Melee sequences have Aquaman battling multiple foes in a manner similar to 3D fighting games.

While engaged in combat, Aquaman can use his special powers and abilities. He can fire his prosthetic hand toward an enemy, which functions like a harpoon and wraps itself (along with the trailing cable) around the desired target. The special hand can also morph into a fist for close-range battles, allowing Aquaman to pummel his foes using a variety of hand-to-hand combat moves. In addition, the King of the Seven Seas may use his telepathic power to call upon the help of various marine life, from sharks and whales to bottle-nosed dolphins and stingrays, to either confuse or to directly attack enemies.

  • It Should Never Suck to Be a Superhero!!!

Pros + Large underwater environment to explore. + Sub missions break up repetition. + Some of the special attacks are fun to pull off. Cons - No interaction with the environment. - Nothing but repetitive gameplay while fighting. - Boss battles can tend to be frustratingly hard. - No real cutscenes, only comic strips. Comments This game is probably one of the worst superhero games on the market but any fan of DC comics will have to have at least one copy for their collection. Aquaman is actually similar in a lot of ways to the 'Superman: Man of Steel' game as far as traveling around the city & fighting goes. But Aquaman does not have quite as many powers as Boy Blue so unless you really enjoy seeing dolphins & sharks beating up your bad guys for you, you probably won't enjoy this ...

  • I wonder if AVGN has reviewed this.

I honestly bought this game because I heard it was one of the worst games of all time and I just had to find out. It's like they had two ideas for the game; one as a flight simulator to allow the swimming part, and one as a fighting game for the combat. Then they just took the two games and mashed them together..., badly. The switch from flight simulator to fighting game is clunky at best and the xbox ends up telling me that IT can no loger play the game after about 5 minutes. The story is told via comic book panels which the xbox seems to like even less. On top of that, the story is lame and seems tacked on which the poor quality of the art supports. Ultimately, the game is boring for the five minutes you can play it, and being limited to five minutes is what kills it. I give it one fishy ...

  • Lightweight with great features.

It is a interesting product of good work thank you.

  • Sunk!

Graphics - 2 Gameplay - 2 Sound - 2 Overall - 2 The story of Battle for Atlantis puts Aquaman up against the usual Aquaman nemeses,This includes Black Manta and Lava Lord. The game uses these comic-book-style panels in between levels to move the dragging story along. i am not sure when Aquaman had his makeover but he looks totally different then the Aquaman we all remember. I would not recomend this game. Not even to DC Comic fans....

  • Aquaman: Battle for Atlantis

This game fails. The reason why XPlay now has the golden mullet awards for worst game of the year. Why do people continue to make bad games when video games have progressed so far? It boggles the mind.
