About this product

Product Information

Once again, for the fifth year in a row, TV weatherman Phil Connors (Bill Murray) is forced to cover the Groundhog Day ceremonies in Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania, an assignment he truly despises. But this year something truly bizarre happens after he finishes the report: When he wakes up the next morning, ready to leave, he discovers it's February 2 all over again. He tries to tell his producer, Rita (Andie MacDowell), what's happening, but neither she nor anyone else understands; only he remembers that they've already lived through Groundhog Day. When the same thing happens the next morning, he thinks he's going insane and wreaks havoc all through the town. More and more mornings pass, all of them February 2, and all of them with an ever angrier Phil. Desperate to escape, he even tries suicide, but still another February 2 dawns. As he starts realizing that his exploits are not making time march on any quicker, Phil begins to change his behavior, performing a series of lifesaving tasks until he becomes a model citizen, hoping it will be enough to get him out of Punxsutawney forever. Along the way he learns more about the people around him--and himself--than he ever thought possible. The film is extremely well put together by director Harold Ramis, and the script by Danny Rubin and Ramis is sharp and clever. The actors--many of whom have to perform essentially the same scene over and over again, with only subtle differences--are a riot.

  • Great Therapy

This movie is not only funny but it shows us all what great pretenders we can be in our lives. I am a therapist and I use this movie to help men see what pretenders they can be .I use the scene from the bar when Bill Murray starts speaking French and run it til the end when he realizes that Claire is really the women for him. I point out that at one time or another we all pose for someone else. The film captures how unhappy we are with who we are and our need to change. I recommend this film because it gives us a chance to really take a look at ourselves and our value system. Way to go Groundhog.

  • Humorous and original

Humorous and original. About a man who finds himself in a unique situation. He is forced to relive the same 24 hours over and over again until he gets it "just right." Everyone else around him of course, are experiencing the day's events for the first time, while he finds himself able to predict exactly what will happen next. Watching how he chooses to live each day is humorous and thought provoking: Just what kind of things would YOU change if you could live the same day over again?

  • Groundhog Day

First, the premise of the movie is brilliant- that this guy is caught in some kind of time warp and is re-living the same day again and again, and he's the only one who knows it. Then, anyone who is a Bill Murray fan will love his performance- a great role. I looked for it on eBay because I never could find it at my local half-price bookstore- and there it was! Great price, too.

  • groundhog day

the movie is a real lession in life, you reap what you sow. and bill murray has his eyes opened in this delightful funny movie, however the entire movie should have been shot in punxy, not elsewhere.for the real punxy is as much a lession in life and love as the movie.its a pure delight to visit and live. wish i did! you cannot go wrong with this movie, its sameo sameo with a twist.there could not have been a better cast. this movie ends with you smileing and happy you chose this movie. you will want to watch it time and time again! A REAL KEEPER!!

  • Good, but there is better

This is a pretty good Bill Murray movie. What About Bob is the best though. It's really fun though the way each repeat of the day before can be used to correct errors from the day before. Too bad we can't really do that.
