Do Not Let The Confusing Title Fool you.
Pre World War I period piece set in 1905 English Chanel area. The film combines Drama, Action, Good Dialog and Romance. In short It's a fairly good spy flick. The Good Guys win and The Bad Guys loose (well, almost all of them, anyway. The End

Sailing and Espionage Go Well Together
A solid adaptation of Erskin Childer's book, which is universally held to be the first of the spy novel genre. Although not "fast paced", it moves along at a reasonable clip. If you are expecting "Mission Impossible" or something similar to the Bourne series, you will be disappointed. The story of two English sailors vacationing among the islands north of Germany before WWI and their discovery of frightening secrets at the risk of their lives. The story has been a favorite of folks who enjoy hoisting canvas to propel their boats and those who enjoy espionage stories that unfold as it goes along. A very well made espionage story and period piece.
The story and the acting are excellent. I've always enjoyed British cinema, especially the works from the 1970's and early 80's. In my opinion this is a perfect example of that period.
